Oh, San Pablo, you never cease to entertain. Right now there's 9 police cars parked at the corner of San Pablo and Gilman and all the cops are waiting outside the Chinese restaurant on the corner. Outside the restaurant there's a ton of party people milling around, loud hip-hop music and what appeared to be smoke coming from the restaurant. Around all that, there was another ring of curious bystanders trying to figure out what was going on. I asked someone, but she only seemed to know there was a party somewhere. The owner of the Chinese restaurant was talking to the cops, so my guess is they either rented it out to a really rowdy crowd or else the party is in the apartment upstairs and restaurant owners called the cops on them (with smoke coming out of the building, I don't blame them). Except there's no fire trucks, so it can't be a fire...
Update: Holy crap. The party got broken up and close to a hundred teenagers just flooded out of that building. It was like a clown car. The restaurant owners were talking to the police and signing some paperwork, so it must have been them that reported it. Nothing happened that seemed violent, but the party was certainly getting out of control. Maybe someone started a small fire? Who knows.
Anyway, I was really amused that after the party got broken up, about 40 people just crossed the intersection and filled the liquor store on the opposite corner. That was too much so the owner of the store kicked everyone out and put a "bouncer" by the door. Then a cop flashed his sirens to break up the loiterers (you're not allowed to loiter in front of liquor stores in CA). The mob crossed the street again and now there's about 35 of them waiting for a 72.
Update 2: Fire truck arrived.
