A national holiday?

Mar 15, 2004 01:03

It is now one hour into the 15th of March, 2004. To us nerds, geeks, and lovers of good polygon counts, today should be marked as a national holiday. Today is the release of the hyped up, played up, loved up follow up of the ever loved Unreal Tournament 2003. Unreal Tournament 2004, as it is called, takes the series in a whole new, but surprisingly familiar direction. With the usual addition of some new models, play modes, and throngs of maps, they have added a little twist I'm sure we all would have loved to see even way back in the first Unreal. They added what I'll call "Vehicle Combat". Yes, my friends, combat from within a fast moving hunk of steel (or gundanium if you like that sort of anime...). The thing in which made Battlefield 1942 into a good game, instead of a really bad one (infantry combat sucks in BF). Our love of climbing into a vehicle and firing a weapon at another unsuspecting vehicle and/or pedestrian is what makes man the dominant species on this planet. It's what made the GTA series one of the top selling series of all time.

So, in celebration, pop the whiskey bottle, put on the party hats, make noise, and be merry. Today is the greatest day for humanity since Hitler bit the bullet.
