OK, so here's the story on the interviews, I realize I haven't filled in a lot of blanks so I'm going to cover my bases...
U of M
Quit. Done and done. No more stupid professors, no more stupid classmates, I'm putting that money towards an overload at Rhodes because at this point I need to get what I pay for. I mentioned my physics prof to Alexandros who looked him up; apparently the man hasn't published a damn thing since pre-1980. For those of you not taking classes, not that I think there are non-collegiates or post-collegiates who read this, but 1980 is the cutoff for most research now.
Memphis Flyer
My friend Lex who was the only other girl working hockey this year (rather, the only one involved with the game itself) referred me to her husband who's the webmaster for the Flyer who sent my resume on to sales. I went in for an interview for an unknown position and apparently nobody'd bothered to look at the graduation date on that one... Anyway, the guy who interviewed me really liked me a lot and wants me to come back and help them create a community relations position and almost offered me a job post-graduation.
Brannon Professionals
The temp agency that Nikki from the RiverKings sent me to; they were pretty nice and everyone was really impressed by my test scores. I took the typing test and scored 91WPM with a 1% error rate, which the woman said she hadn't seen working 15 years there. My Microsoft Word test went well; I knew things I didn't even know I knew. I also figured out how to work Microsoft Excel and scored on an intermediate level even though I've never done more than a basic "Alpha OmicronPi M Check 120" spreadsheet. The woman was really excited about my resume, and my interest in marketing, though she also wanted to place me as a court clerk because my typing skills were so impressive. She had a marketing firm in Memphis that she wanted to place me for the rest of the summer since they didn't have anyone to go full time, and the woman wanted to ask the CEO about it. I never heard back, but that's OK-- makes my decision to come back to Atl easier. Oh, well. I have a good enough resume without the marketing firm that making a couple thousand bucks will be better for me than anything else.
I think that's about it, so if I've left something out, feel free to ask.
I also went the rest of the night without getting sick on the Jager, so we're good to go. It's only the aftertaste that got me, really. Blech.
Hopefully T-Barnes is making it in to Memphis tonight and I'll have company, but for now I guess it's shower and cleanup/pack time... wheeeeee...
