Another recap of『news every』from last week.

This week we have screencaps and a summary of the Kininaru segment from the ever wonderful daelite .

The Ganbarani segment this week focused on "Quality of Life" and featured a paralympic amputee in training for the London Olympics. During the course of the story she was fitted for a new prosthetic leg that allowed her, for the first time since she became an amputee, to wear high heels. They joy that this brought her definitely made a major point about quality of life.

Ki ni Naru - summary thanks to daelite

Koyama visits a preschool of 237 students in Fukuoka that is special for it's meals!

Koyama visits the one year olds during their snack time and finds them eating... black beans, roasted brown rice and dried sardines. Not what you would normally expect to find little kids snacking on but they eat it happily. Snacks like this help them develop healthy chewing habits.

The 81 year old head of the preschool started it 42 years ago, and she started putting special effort into the school's meals as she found an increasing amount of children to have allergies.

Koyama ate lunch with a class of 2 year olds and found them eating macarel, miso soup with spinach, mixed brown rice and natto (with shredded daikon radish). And a lot of the food is organic too! There is a farmer in Kyushu who grows organic foods for the school to use and is happy that small children can enjoy it.

But that's not all, every Saturday the 5 year old kids make lunch themselves! On this day they were making rice with mixed vegetables in it. They cut the vegetables, wash the rice and start the fire to cook the rice all by themselves. Through this experience they learn about the dangers of fire and knives first hand while enjoying cooking. The kids also make their own miso once a month, working together to mash up the ingredients with their little feet. They use this miso paste at school and get to take it home to use there as well.
