Anime Expo2004 = Fun 4 all.

Aug 05, 2004 19:04

Wasn't exactly the greatest because i got homesick after the second night...but here's a run down of what i did. Enjoy.

We first started off by getting to AX by around 4:30. We dropped off our cars in the nearest Carls Jr. Hence, no hotel parking till Marcus' friends get here. (They had priority of getting the hotel for us and we were to pay them, so we couldn't get in till they got to us. Since we got to the Expo before them, we decdied to go inside the convention and stand in line for the Registration Tickets.

If you hate staying in loooong boring lines, then this one is the big kahuna. How does FIVE HOURS of standing in line sound? Not only that, but of those five hours 2 of them were spent listening to some 40+yr old dude giving lectures on how anime came to be etc etc behind us. This guy is totally weird. Get this, he just comes up to a random group of people and starts telling them why, and what he thinks about anime. Gosh, this guy was probably in the top 5 of my list for most annoying people i've ever run into. Talk about blabbermouth...geez! I nearly went insane. Oh yeah, try standing in line for 5 hr's straight without any type of entertainment and nothing to talk about since we've lost all ideas of what to talk about. The next thing we'd have to do is start making fun of the cosplayers costumes, and that's going waay too far. That's just mean. Nothing mean, nope.

Upon walking out of that retched 5 hour line of hell, we let our a very distinctive sigh that completely meant ''Thank goodness it's over''. So we headed out back to the cars and waited for another hour. Oh yeah, forgot to tell you. We started the line at 5, left at 10:00pm = 5 hrs + another 1hr at the cars it was an easy 11:00 when Marcus' friends finally showed up. Marcus, Steve, and Matt drove their cars/truck to the Hilton parking. We parked and started to grab everything im the trunks and unpacked into the hotel. Everyone started to pick the places they'll be sleeping from the momnent we entered the hotel room. I just kind of picked a corner and dumped all my stuff there. Boy were we all tired. We decided to watch the TV and Terminator 3 was showing lol. It was kinda fun. So we went to sleep and the next day came quickly.

We started the first day off by going to the exhibition hall. It was big and full of anime junkies and anime junk. So many japanese people too, it was good to be in such an amplified crowd. It did get a little loud at times though, with all the announcers shouting out with freebies and getting the crowds all excited. It was cool though ^__^.

We also went to some anime theaters. It was fun to watch some good ol' anime with a couple buddies. Some of the animes we saw were really odd. I mean, i know anime is just a bunch of cool looking cartoons, but they seriously bend all rules and do whatever they want. And they've been really going over that rule a lot more than usual. I guess they're running out of ideas and thinking of some wacky way to excite the audience. Heh, it's still fun to watch every now and then.

Me, Brian and Marcus had a reallly really good time together though. It was just fun to hang out, make jokes about crummy cars trying their hardest to look cool. We just made fun of their chrome rims and huge mufflers, lol, it was quite hilarious. We also were having lots of fun in the hotel ever time we went back.

It really got tiring though. Man, try going down 6 flores, walk the equivalent of about 2 blocks to the convention, and then continue walking more browsing around at the exhibition hall for a couple hours, you get pretty pooped! Which is what happened to Brian, Marcus and I. We surely got tired, so we took frequent visits to the hotel.

Speaking of hotel, we got hungry a lot. And guess what we had to live on? Ramen. Eww! It was just AWFUL! I mean, eating ramen every single day. And that's not all. We had to cook hot dogs in crummy hot water, eat half cooked breakfast sausages and induce enough sodium equal to 3 times how much you should have in a day! It was insane. I felt soooo bad. Man..i felt sick after eating Ramen the first night. I couldn't belive it, but i had to. At least i got to eat at Carls Jr. once and go to AM-PM which was about 4 blocks away from the hotel and buy a cheesy cheesyburger and some wanna-be BBQ sandwhich. Man...the worst food. Really bad. Man was i in for a treat when i got home. Real home cooking! I missed real food after the first day. Think about it, you're starving and you have to practically eat noodles with tons of salt on top of it. It's plain out nasty, and i cringed everytime i ripped open another bag of beef flavored, MSG filled noodles.

Enough of that horrible Ramen. We saw some realllly neat-o cosplayers though. Sorry to say i wasn't able to pin point "STARGAZERS" which was the team that Lauren was in, at Anime Expo 2002. Maybe i'll be able to see them next year. Hey...who knows, maybe Lauren will come next year! I hope so ^__^. Come on, Lauren, join me!

Did i mention i missed the fireworks for some cheesy Masquerade at anime expo? Gosh..it sucked. I'd so much rather watch that fireworks show. I'll find something to replace it, i dunno.

Other then what i mentioned, Anime Expo this year was fun mainly for kicks with my buddies. Brian, Marcus and Ben stuck with me the most. Although, like everyother Anime Expo, i wasn't able to hang out with everyone. Of course, not to mention i already had tension from some people already, so i just kept to myself. Other than that, this year was fun, but just gave me homesickness. I wanted to go home...

...because i wanted to see my other friends and mostly the one i missed more than anything. Lauren.

I love you, honey!

Useless Fact of the Day: I won 2 free shirts at Anime expo this year. Sadly, they are over 2 years old lol. Cosplayers were better then last year too. And, the most impressive cosyplay was a suit of a Gundam, the person who made it told me it took him over 4 months to build, paint and get the entire suit ready. Wow!

OH yeah, i got a B+ on my first exam! Gotta shoot for an A next time. Woot, on my way of becoming a teacher!
