Okay, so class is about to start but I already know what we're talking about so I've decided to do my reviews for the week. I'm going to talk about
Because I Said So and
Stick It.
Okay, this movie was really cute and I could see it being real in a way. Well, not the mom interviewing guys for her daughter (actually now that I think about it I can see that happening) but the interaction between the mom and the daughter. My mom and I kinda interact like that. The older sisters were great as well though I wish I had seen more of their interaction. And Mandy Moore's character was very much flawed and it is possible to hate her during part of the movie. Granted she never told her men that they were exclusive but I don't understand how she could sleep with both of them at the same time and not feel like she was cheating. Plus she was falling in love with one guy and his son and yet stay with the other guy...and sleep with both of them. I know I'm focusing on this and it's not like I believe that premarital sex is evil, but I consider what she was doing as cheating. The end was fitting. She yelled at pretty but asshole guy and she tried to get back together with the artist (who found out that she was sleeping with the other guy). She even told asshole guy but he didn't care and that bothered me so I'm really glad she dumped him...even though he is very pretty. I also loved how artist guy didn't take her back right away. That would've been too easy. He did eventually get over his pride and took her back. Actually he went to her and it was in the middle of an old people cooking class and artist guy kissed her and then the old people started to kiss and trust me when I say it was gross.
My favorite part of the whole movie was when the mom and daughter were fighting. It was real...the daughter wouldn't talk to the mom, the mom kept calling and calling until the daughter was able to forgive her. It was so real that I fell in love with it. And don't get me wrong there were lots of funny moments though most of those were from the older sisters. I give this movie a 6 out of 10. There wasn't enough detail in the relationships between Mandy Moore and the two guys and Mandy Moore and the artist's son.
By the way, the cakes in this movie were beautiful and I really wanted to eat them.
Okay, this movie was just fun to watch. The directing was beautifully done and the computer graphics and such were brilliant. The plot was pretty good too. Granted it's a sports movie but it has some twists that you probably won't expect. I love how the main character, no matter how good she did, did not win everything. That would have been very cliche. Also, I found it refreshing that the main character (Haley) didn't really have a romantic interest. This movie was nothing like Bring it On even though it was directed or produced by the person who did Bring it On. Actually I felt that this movie was given the short end of the stick by being linked to Bring it On. Oh, and the athletes in this movie were amazing. The tricks and stunts had me awestruck because people really do these things. It's amazing. And some of the lines in this movie were classic (or they should be). It was serious and funny and it was beautifully mixed. It gets a 9 out of 10. This movie knew exactly what it was and it didn't try to become something else. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough wrap up between Haley and her parents. If there had been a few scenes towards the end (before the Championships) I would have given this a 10 out of 10.
I know that these movies are kind of old news but I just watched them last week so I decided to share my opinions on them. Feel free to tell me what you think.
