A friend of Cassie's from school was killed crossing the road to his house yesterday.

Just a little over a year since I heard of the death of one of my favorite students from 10 years ago, yesterday brought the news of the passing of the Dean of Students--or Assistant Headmaster for Student Life as I think they were calling him now--at that boarding school where I began my teaching career ( Read more... )

Junior Seau killed himself today, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. In San Diego county. He was two years younger than my father was when he did the same thing.It's hitting me pretty hard, which is both weird and not. The Chargers were the team of my young childhood; my father's team.
