SET, part 2

Not much has happened since yesterday. Well, actually quite some things happened, but ... See, we had staff orientation yesterday and today, but we haven't had any time to discuss class-specific plans etc with the instructors. I have really little clue about what exactly is going to happen in my class. Hopefully, I'll figure out much more after lunch. Most of the things they talked about was just administrative things. Busywork. And some things are repeated more than twice.

Anyway, it's not a big deal; just some minor thing that doesn't annoy anyone much.

I've talked a bit with my instructor about the type of 'enrichment activities' that we are going to do in class. The class I'm TA-ing is pretty much a guided independent study. There will be 15 kids who are studying practically on their own; reading their own textbooks, etc. Not much lecture will be going on in that class. But there will be a 40 minutes - 1 hour 'enrichment activities' where all the kids get to do things together.

So, I've thought a bit about some things we can do in class (Does anyone have any interesting math games/puzzles that 'gifted' 5th and 6th graders can do?) When I asked the instructor what kind of things we should do in the class, he said, well, are you familiar with the game of Set? Hell, yeah!!! He ordered several packs of those. That would be awesome. and other things. I will probably steal some things from math books/websites. It's kind of disappointing that the library here doesn't have any math books. Well, they have some; very few of them. And math books falls under 'general collection'.

Ergh...

I fell asleep at 7 PM last night. Woke up at 11.30, and went to sleep again at around 1 AM.

And, the RA that was assigned for my class got some kind of intestine infection. He went home. It was kind of sad... I would be really disappointed if I were him.

Oh well...
