I think I may have slightly overdone it. Not content to finish a pocket and fichu, I made most of a pudding cap tonight.
I went back and forth on a print or sort of matching my existing pocket, and I decided to sort of match my existing pocket. The new pocket is white linen bound with brown check linen. I think I still have some of the blue stripe, but it's in storage. And the fichu is just quickly hemmed.
I've also decided I'm not putting eyelets in the instant pudding cap. You see, it's velvet. With hemp canvas interlining. And I appreciate not having my fingers go numb, so instead I just bought three yards of black silk ribbon and I'll sew it into place. It's mainly a photo op pudding cap, not meant to be the height of authenticity, so tied on ribbons will be fine :)
I really just meant to cut out the pudding cap tonight, but I found myself getting the machine out, and well, it's almost done. I just need to do the hand binding, sew the pieces together and sew the ribbon on. Not bad! I just hope
sarahnucci's nephew, Eomer, likes it long enough to wear it. And it turns out cute. And I'm sure watching Return of the King tonight had nothing to jumping into the pudding cap tonight. Because really, LotR (and Pride and Prejudice or Harry Potter)seem to be the movies I watch in the background when I get really serious about sewing, which I have been the past few days. Expect at least one of those to come out just before each and every event. They're long so I don't have to think about what's next, and I like them too :)
And oh. Zzz.
