Lost Hope, First Look!

I came at this project a little differently than most.  SInce I hadn't read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, I didn't want to make a dress, although I loved the idea of the group.  I knew though, that if I read--or watched--there'd be no hope.

I meant to start reading before watching, but (see previous post) one more Bryant and May book got in the way.  So, watching was first.  And then the Lost Hope scene came on, I had an instant need for a silver and white Regency dress.  So mine is definitely more show inspired than book inspired.  It will also work equally well as a Harry Potter ghost or actual Regency dress.

I love the idea of a more book designed dress and am excited to see what everyone's doing actually looks like, but my mind so doesn't work like that!

Anyway, the dress above will be worn over a silver underdress.  It just needs a hem and trim.  And putting it on the dressform, I decided it needed puffs of silk net like the ones on the sleeves around the skirt. I have plenty of silk net, thankfully!  I'm still waiting on the silver braid that was part of my initial design scheme.  Which I think will be used on the underdress now...
