Forty-five year old Dave Karofsky stood in the hospital hallway staring into the nursery with the same dopey grin that had been fairly constantly plastered to his face the past day. He watched as the two boys, no, the two men as they stood nervously over one particular incubator. Fathers and child finally able to meet after some mild health concerns. Dave, for his part was anxious to get in there himself, but he knew the three of them could use the family time. Slowly, he became aware of having company standing to his left, watching the same scene.
"To be honest," The other man spoke first, "We were..." Kurt searches for the right word, "...concerned when we found out Phillip was dating your son."
Dave took a glance at Kurt and let out a slight scoff, "Well, I wasn't exactly thrilled to find out your son knocked up mine, you know."
"Fair enough."
They continue watching as their shared grandson is lifted for the first times.
Kurt speaks again. "Would you have been as concerned if it was someone else's son?"
Dave considered this for a moment. "No."
"Why?"
"Because I spent most of the years immediately following high school trying to seperate myself from you. Now we're sort of forever linked." Kurt nodded, acknowledging quietly the sentiment was shared.
"Well, at least if we have to be linked its by that little guy there."
