I'm currently at my parents' house in central PA. It's...kinda nice to be back in the middle of nowhere; city life had begun to wear on me.
After a lovely from both sets of parents (so as to introduce the parents of the brides at some point before the stressful wedding), we packed up all our stuff for the summer and drove out here. All valuables have been well-hidden or brought with; a couple of neighbors are keeping their eyes on the place while we're gone, and they have our contact info should anything go wrong. As nice as our neighbors are, we're still looking into moving in August/September/October...mainly so we can live in a safer neighborhood (where we don't worry for our own wellbeing when we're inside a locked house), but also so can have hardwood floors and thus eventually get a kitten.
I'm leaving for Brazil in just under a week. Admittedly, I'm a bit anxious about it... I suspect it'll be fine, though, and I will have worried for nothing.
In the meantime, we have a lot to do in a week. Activities will include: altering Lizzie's wedding dress (it's too big, eep!) and getting it dry-cleaned, sewing my wedding dress from scratch (we already picked out and purchased the materials, thank goodness!), finding shoes for both of us to wear for the ceremony (my suggestions of going barefoot or wearing Chacos were both shot down), getting an oil change and alignment for Penelope (who will be driving all over the US and Canada this summer), copious amounts of cooking and baking, poking around the Amish store, maybe taking a walk to play with my new telephoto lens, and watching lots of Firefly. Life is good, indeed.
And now: sleep.
