Great Horned Owl visit
Last night I had trouble sleeping and right when I felt I was finally going to be able to drift off to sleep I heard an owl outside my window. Since I was too tired to get my little laptop I counted the hoots and the timing and finally feel asleep. I just remembered to look up the sound and it seems it is from a Great Horned Owl.
I had thought from their popularity in TV/movies that they'd be more rare or only around a certain region, and certainly not around here. But it seems it is the most common owl in North America! So that is rather cool. ^_^
I looked through my old entries here, since I remember hearing an owl at a rather stressful point in my life several years ago. I never looked up to see what kind of owl it was though. What is interesting is that this is the second time since being at this house (for 5 years) that have heard one. I kinda hope it comes around more often since I love the sound of its hoots. ^_^
