Carl Edwards came pretty much out of nowhere in 2003. Who was this energetic kid with a big mouth who won a bunch in the Truck series?? He moves up to Cup last year, finishes in the top 5 a couple times, and moves to both Busch and Cup full-time this year.
He won his first career Busch race on Saturday after driving a hell of a race and did his trademark backflip after the win....
Wow... WHAT A RACE! On lap 1 there was a pileup that unfortunately involved Jeff Gordon among other great competitors. Too early to have that crap going on... anyhow. The race was great.
It was between Jimmie Johnson and Greg Biffle all day, and they were two of my picks. They totally dominated and switched the lead about 20 times. The weirdest shit happened behind them - guys getting caught for speeding, Dale Jr. just being damn slow, Kurt Busch blowing a couple tires. The freakiest thing about Busch 2nd blown tire was that when it came apart and pieces flew everywhere, Bobby Labonte just happened to have his hand stuck out the window to let air in the car. He got hit, and I wouldn't doubt he drove the rest of the race with broken fingers.
Jimmie's leading late in the race, but Edwards (my 3rd pick) is stalking him. Edwards almost wrecks the damn thing with 10 to go, but he cools his jets and collects himself. Focus... by Turn 2 on the last lap, he was on Johnson's bumper. Johnson blocked high in Turns 3 and 4, so Carl Edwards just went to no man's land by the wall and decided to try and pass him anyway...
