50 minutes... a new record!

Morbid Angel
Behemoth
Krisiun (no show)
Despised Icon
@ Medley

Well, I got one of my wishes today... sorta. I always wanted to see Behemoth, one of my top favourite bands, headline. Specifically, I wanted to see them play a set that lasted more then 40 minutes. Well, I got that second part granted. All because Krisiun didn't make it to the show, which suited me just fine. Ten extra minutes is more than worth no Krisiun.

As for their set itself, kick ass. Behemoth keep coming back, and they just keep getting better, every single time. Well, this time was only marginally better then the last time they came, by virtue of the fact that they played longer. Had it not been for that, I would have said that this performance plateau-ed with their last. Anywho, the sound was shit, especially at the beginning. A big "Fuck off and die!" to the Medley. After the second song Nergal spent about a minute and a half telling the crowd how much they love Monteral. While I do believe he was being sincere, I suspect he drew it out for that long just to give the idiot sound guys time to fix their shit. He also spent an extra long time bashing Christianity tonight, perhaps also for the same reason. Good times. Full set list, as best as I can remember it (not in order played, any corrections are welcomed):

Demigod
Christians to the Lions
Conquer All
Storming Near the Baltic
Anti-Christian Phenomenon
Decade of Therion
As Above so Below
Slaves Shall Serve
Chant for Eschaton 2000
(Encore)
From the Pagan Vastlands
Pure Evil and Hate
[edit April 20th: K, I get confused easy. They closed that night with "Pure Evil and Hate" not with a Carcass cover]

I'm a bit unsure now, actually. I seem to recall there being one other song, Nergal made a big deal of it because it was a very old one and I seem to remember him saying it was "Summoning..." and didn't catch the rest. I could find any song on their website that starts with the word summoning. I totally can't remember it.[edit April 20th: I'm pretty sure that song was "Storming Near the Baltic"] Nevertheless, the fact that they actually got to do an encore was fucking wicked. Huzzah!

Nergal: "Does anybody know where we are from?"
Crowd: "Poland!"
Nergal: "Actually, we're From the Pagan Vastlands!"

Ahaha. That quote was from when I saw them open for Six Feet Under at Foufs (I think, or maybe it was the mystery 4th show but I'll get to that later) but I think he might have used the same intro line tonight. However, the inflection used on "actually" is was made it funny last time. Almost as funny as Devin Townsend's "Aftermath" joke.

Now, here is my problem. I seem to have shit memory for shows. If I see a band a lot, I start to forget howm many times I've seen 'em. Take Behemoth. I can't remember if tonight was my fourth or fith time seeing them. I know saw them open for Amon Amarth at Foufs, Six Feet Under at Foufs, Danzig at Medley, and tonight. I'm sure there was another show they opened for at Foufs after the Amon Amarth one, but I cannot remeber which. Alex had the feeling too, but Dave disagreed. So, I shall now be logging all my concerts in here. However, since I've seen so many bands three or more times, it might be too late. Oh well. Maybe I'll sit down and make a list. If anyone is aware of this show I can't remember (doubtful) do let me know.

Oh, on a final note, no matter how many times I see Behemoth close their set with "Chant for Eschaton 2000" I never get sick of it.

"Ok, I'd like to dedicate this next song to my 11th grade biology class. It was the class AFTERMATH!"
