Went to the Magnificent Mile Festival of Lights tonight!! Parade down Michigan Ave. with Disney characters from DisneyWorld and as they passed the trees along the whole street lit up with millions of Christmas lights! Then the fireworks display took place at the Chicago River. Fun stuff.

Went to the KSO date auction afterwards to check it out - originally Tiff and I signed up to be auctioned but then we were told we had to perform our talent (ie. sing/dance) so we felt like it'd be a hassle and bailed out immediately. It went pretty well, there are some hot asian girls and guys on our campus! Once I saw the girls being auctioned I was glad I didn't do it cuz the girls were getting auctioned off for $15-$115 and there's no way that anybody would pay within that range for a date with me! Except maybe my roomie, out of pity...
http://cbs2chicago.com/topstories/local_story_322123955.htmlPolice say a local college graduate is responsible for setting a series of fires on the University of Chicago campus.
Chicago police say 31-year-old Julita Groszko, a former student who graduated last spring has been charged with aggravated arson, aggravated attempted arson, and criminal damage to property. They also say she admitted her role in setting the fires: one on Monday and three on Tuesday. Those were primarily in Math and Science buildings - Groszko’s field of study.
The string of small fires began Monday, with a charred door at Swift Hall. On Tuesday, three more within an hour: A table ignited at Kent labs, an elevator ablaze at Ryerson Hall and a stack of papers ignited at Eckert Hall.
Then Wednesday, accelerant and matches discovered on the floor at the Chicago Theological Seminary.
As for motive, police say she was stressed out about not finding a job and about the workload that went into her undergraduate chemistry degree.
They found the arsonist at our school! I figured it'd be somebody who was frustrated and stressed out by the difficulty of our school. I understand that she must've been extremely frustrated when she's 31, worked her ass off and paid a lot of tuition to graduate from the University of Chicago, and still can't find a job... but wow, talk about going to some extreme levels!
*at work at the smart museum.*
j: "don't you get offended when older white guys come up to you and hit on you like that mamita?"
me: "what are you talking about?! he told me that the artist of that painting was the dean of yale arts college for 30 years and asked me whether those things on the table were lights."
j: "yeeeeeah - you know he was hitting on you. white people and their yellow fever. he probably wants you to wear a kimono and serve him egg-foo-young."
