Directly after the burial, the rains came in. How macabre and appropriate. It rained most of Weds and some Thursday. But that didn't distress my days. I got lucky and found two days of work at the last minute, so I was inside a CVS pharmacy, rebuilding their shampoo and facial cleansers aisle while it poured outside. $11 an hour, 13 hours... not too shabby for the exact thing I used to do at Michaels for $8.25 an hour. Eat your heart out, John Rivers! (My old boss at Michaels- picture a man who looks exactly like the doctor on The Simpsons, with the exact same patronising attitude, and you have my old boss! Life does imitate Art, again and again! Or else Mat Groening knows John too!)
On Friday and today, Saturday, I worked at home in the garden and greenhouse... mostly on the new firepit brickwork. I finished most of the construction this afternoon... all except the finish details, like smoothing and "pointing" the mortar to finish. I covered it up for the night with a plastic sheet, since it's now looking like more rain...
Here's some new pics of me and the so-called Tiger lilies.
Me standing in front of the mirror wall inside the Greenhouse.
A nice close-up, but I wished my camera took higher resolution images to get the intricate details of the petals' colors.
Actually, in total, there were Nine Mystic Blooms... but two have already faded. Prophesy? Perhaps. Mythic, certainly.
I have been assigned some more Lowes work next week. Supposedly, Tues-Thurs. I say supposedly because since last Dec 20th, all work they've assigned me got cancelled at the very last minute! And I do mean the very last minute! I was heading to Atlanta that time, when I felt a sudden urge to check up on my email before leaving the library... and what should pop up but an email from Sass, cancelling the whole week's work! I mean I was five minutes from getting in the truck and spending all my gas to drive up to Atlanta... it's days like that when you feel exceptionally grateful for your keen intuition! Hopefully this time the work will go through. But it means I'll have little time at home and even less at the library to check email and get online. If it seems I'm out of contact these days, that's why! Not cause I don't love you! In fact, I gotta go now, the librarian's getting angry!
Peace,
Korak
