Well, I decided to be a social butterfly yesterday and I had a good time doing it. I must admit, I was a bit hesitant to attend the Super Bowl festivities at first -- pondering the possibility that it would be a testosterone-fueled, meat-fest -- but, thankfully, it wasn't. Although the proportion of men to women was skewed in favor of men, there was an acceptable amount of girls, some of whom I'd met before. A couple of guys brought their dogs. I fell in love with the little blue pitbull seen here:
I had help in getting her onto my lap. She slept there for 2hrs while I chatted with a coworker. Her owner(s?) clearly know what they're doing, reeling in the girls. If I ever fall for a person the way I fell for that dog, I'll be in great shape.
Earlier in the weekend (Friday, to be exact) I had rushed over to the sisters' side of town to shop for a new car. My car had been steadily getting a little worse every few months. It was time for a new one. After negotiating a deal on Friday with a dealership, Spicy and I retired to her living room where we ate pizza and watched (read: I watched whilst she slept through) the movie "Law Abiding Citizen". Not bad. I kinda feel like it was a shoddy ending, but, like I said, not a bad movie.
Saturday morning, after breakfast at The Barrel, the car shopping continued. We stopped at a nearby dealership and spoke to a young man who couldn't have been much further out of high school than me. I know that people my age can be working professionals now, but I can smell immaturity from a mile away. This kid smelled like teen spirit. I test drove a couple of models with him as my passenger. Nice cars, but he remained vague on what kind of car note I'd have. It wasn't long before the sisters and I found ourselves back at the first dealership. I am now the new, proud owner of a 2011 Mazda 3! Zoom zoom!
Alas, I drove it off of the lot right into the f'n snowstorm! The trip back home that normally takes 1hr took me 3hrs, making me late for work that night. That's ok because I made it there in style. Work was a bore as usual. I was training a new girl who will hopefully remain as nice as she was that night. We all know how females can be though...
Other than that, life is great!
