School has been fun, hard, and painful at times. It is proving to be the dogfight that I am willing to jump in two hundred percent for. It is kind of like basketball - you have the chance to get injured, and most likely will to some extent, but the game and the people you play with are so exciting and so fun that the injuries do not ( Read more... )

Becca, you are beyond my hero. Thank you for your advice and your friendship. It is such an honor to get to room with you and I want to be like you someday. :) I want to grow up to be a romantic.
When I read your comment, I realized that I have some skewed views of things. I am going to try your advice and in a sense just try and fake it until I make it, and use some of that faith disguised as confidence.
Where do I go to pick up my share of confidence? ;) I think I shall go and filch some.

You are amazing. I don't know how you do it. You manage to incorporate sequoia trees and Shadowrun into the same comment and yet it all makes perfect sense.
This is rather odd to me to try and comment back on something that seems pretty personal to me, but that shouldn't matter. I really appreciate your advice, Al. I am trying to just straighten up and jump in. It is true that no one can really learn except through trial and error. I am going to try and set myself on the line a little more and not care so much.
P.S. Now I want a picture of a sequoia in a wheat field for an icon. ^_^

I don't think I've ever seen a sequoia in a wheat field, though I bet it could be photoshopped....

As for the randomly coherent linking of advice and analogies--its a gift...and a curse...and you are totally welcome. That's what friends are for, right?

I think you need a good kidnapping and taken it away from all the crazies except for those that make you play games...you know like sparky, and miette and seeth who always makes you laugh...yes...that is what I am thinking...time for a good koola napping

Koola-napping sounds like a great idea. I will be coming to Centerville soon, and I am trying to figure out a way to actually stay for singies. I am seeing if I can move my work hours to Friday from Monday morning so I can take the bus back up to Provo. We will see if strategy works.

Rose, you rock. I am really loving getting more connected with those of our family who use LJ, including you. I am in awe of what you're doing and who you are.

I think I can relate with your feelings right now. I went through the same thing in college. For me part of it was just growing up and part of it was that I was constantly being critiqued in my design classes (thats what was supposed to be happening, of course) but on some level its hard to not let it sink in to a personal level. I felt like I was always the bottom of the barrel and I could never get approval. So I'm really glad to hear you're loving school and finding success. Maybe some of that positive karma will flow over into your personal life. You are the full package girl! And its oh-so-nice to eventually feel at peace with yourself. It will happen. I think it didn't happen for me until I was a mom. How can you go wrong when your child thinks you're the superhero of the century?

I am really glad you are on here now! I was surprised and happy to find your post. :D
And I thank you for telling me about this. It is nice to hear from someone in a similar field. Especially from you. I look up to you so much in your field and with your family. Thank you.
