Yes, folks, sitting next to me, right here under my desk at work, is literally a bag holding only things comprised of soy. I just realized this, and found it amusing. Here is what is in my little paper Whole Foods bag: a carton of organic smooth vanilla VitaSoy soy milk, a package of BBQ soy crisps, and a package of ranch soy crisps. That's it. Just soy.
Turns out, I don't really eat or drink dairy anymore. Don't know how that came about. I do put a splash of skim in my Americano at Starbucks, though. But, that's only because they don't have a container of soy out at the sugar/creamer/straw/stirrer/trash station with all the other milk varieties. Yet another reason I hoist Splendas with my coffee. I have to protest the lack of readily available soy somehow.
Also, I did drink Bailey's this past Wednesday night. So, there's dairy in that. I think. It's cream, but you don't have to refrigerate it... so... I don't really know what it is, but it's not soy. The night I had Bailey's and stirred it with a Fudgesicle (yum) was the night I got my platinum hair fitted with some brown lowlights (so much better!) and went to say goodbye to my friend, Susan, who is now living in Honolulu with her husband, Will, and their dog, Banshee. Will's in the Coast Guard, so they have to move every 3 years. Susan was cleaning out any remaining crap she had in the house that night because they were to leave at 4am the next morning (no sleep for them!). I had some wine and Bailey's and chatted with her while she did some paint touch ups. They still hadn't sold the house and were trying to rent it or get someone to buy it. It's pretty crazy-- they didn't hire a realtor! Looks like now they have to, though. Susan loaded me up with lots of food that they still had (including 7 month past expired Lean Pockets that she convinced me were good-- I had one and my stomach got pretty pissed.) and I went home at around 11pm and crashed. I miss Susan! She is fun! I'm moving outta DC soon enough, anyway, so it's not too traumatic. Plus, now I have an excuse to go to Hawaii cause I'll have a place to stay! I think some Aloha will be in order come April.
