Nothing's really happened that is journal-worthy in awhile, but I thought that if I just started typing while I'm sitting here full of Reisling and watching a 'Supernatural' re-run, that something would come. I'm feeling the urge for sushi right now. Not hungry-- just want sushi. :)
Today (this whole weekend, really) has been one of those great days where you feel like you've done nothing, but you've really done a lot, and it's still been pretty relaxing.
Did a lot of running this weekend-- and outside even! It wasn't that humid or hot in the morning, so yesterday and today I went out on a run in Rock Creek Park. Saturday was the 'pace' run. Meaning 'race pace'-- the pace I want to run in the marathon. So, I was clipping along, and I heard feet directly behind me. Not a big deal-- I figured whoever it was would just pass soon enough, but they DIDN'T. As a runner, there is NOTHING more frustrating than hearing the LOUD heel striking of someone running directly behind you. NOTHING. So, FINALLY, the dude passes me, and I see he's small, has really muscular (pretty sure they were also shaved for aerodynamicness) legs and is totally one of those badass, super-fast African pro-runners. As he's passing me he says, "That's a great pace-- you could give anyone a run for their money!" I chuckled and said, "Thank you!" Then, in a bit, he turned around to run back the way he came and told me to have a good one. Now, I guess anyone reading this knows that I'm a fast runner, and I've been training my ass off to be fast. I'm not really good at a lot of things, but I'm good at running, and no one ever really gives me any props for it, so that guy's comment totally made my day. Most people just think I'm fast because I just am. It's hard work, and the only one I'm doing it for is ME. It hurts and it sucks a lot of the time, but as long as my brain tells my body to keep running and keep pushing, it's damn well going to, and that's all there is to it.
Crap. Why couldn't they have played a 'Supernatural' re-run that I haven't already seen??
Next Wednesday morning (the 25th) I'm going to Chicago for a Cortiva meeting, a potential roomie meeting, a free Kill Hannah show at Metro, and then up to Milwaukee for my 5th year Marquette reunion pub crawl. It's gonna be an action-packed few days-- maybe even enough action to merit an LJ post.
