It's the summer frickin' SOLSTICE!

Woo-hoo!  Looks like the move back to Chicago in September will go off without a hitch (so far).  Crazy Sue (landlady) is finally warming up to the idea of renting my place to my friend, Nick.  She's coming back from NY (where she was planning to stay for about 6 months-- what a nice landlady!) to meet him on Sunday.  He's coming to DC for the weekend to check out a place he's going to sublet for July and August before he moves in here.  It makes it SO easy for me if he takes my place because he'll take my furniture, and I didn't want to take it all back with me anyway.  The cost and hassle of a U-Haul, in comparison to the cost of the Ikea furniture, is probably more than the junk is worth.  So, anyway, I'm looking into possibly finding a roomate on craigslist cause that would be cheap and easy (already furninshed except for my room), but I'm still iffy about living with someone I don't know-- especially since I've been living alone for about 5 years.

I bought this new toothbrush called the Oral-B Pulsar.  I just thought it was a fancy bristled brush cause I didn't look at the packaging much.  Not so.   Apparently the name is supposed to give away the fact that it 'pulses.'  Vibrates, really.  I figured this out as I was opening it and noticed some words saying, "battery," and "doesn't need to be replaced."  No wonder the freaking thing cost like 7 bucks.  Law school has ruined me for reading.  I don't even read toothbrush packages!  I skim.  Skimming is not efficient.  It was good in law school because most of the opinion in a case is just verbose crap that judge's law clerks spew to fill pages and make the judge look intelligent.  That's why you skim.  I still haven't broken myself of this habit.  But, someday.....someday....

I went running outside today and decided to try and break in the new Mizunos I got on sale at Road Runner Sports since I was doing a short 3-miler.  (Last time I made the mistake of breaking in the Sauconys with an 8-miler and had torn up heels for weeks.)  I don't like the Mizunos.  It feels like I'm running on a hard plastic sole.  There isn't the soft cushiony bounce you get with the Saucony ProGrid Triumph.  That's it.  I'm sticking with the Sauconys.  They're my shoe.

Next Sunday is the birthday.  I want cake.  I am buying myself this cake (the pumkin head).  I'm also having them write "Happy 17th Birthday Jen!" on it.  17 is more fun than 27.  Not that I'd want to be 17 again, but it's just better than remembering that I'm 27 now.  :)  I think I'm going to have some people over that saturday and have food, cake, and mojitos, and then go out to really celebrate.  Yes,  I like that idea.
