February resolution

OK I think I've found a February resolution. I'm gonna do a walk/run program.

I was talking to Gord Kurenoff, who replaced Pete Driver on the night desk, at work tonight and he was telling me about the Sun Run's learn-to-walk program. It's kinda inspired me and put this worm in my head that maybe I can do it. I'm the most pathetic runner ever, but perhaps it is worth a try. After all, 2017 is my year of being OPEN. I am open to possibilities and new things. I won't pre-judge things, as in, I won't assume I'll hate running. I'm open. OPEN. So wide open.

So, the Sun Run regimen as per Gord is:

Week 1 - Jog 1 minute / walk 2 minutes x 7 intervals
Week 2 - Jog 2 minutes / walk 2 minutes x 7 intervals
Week 3 - Jog 3 minutes / walk 2 minutes x 7 intervals
Week 4 - Jog 3 minutes / walk 2 minutes x 7 intervals (same as the prior week)
Week 5 - Jog 4 minutes / walk 1 minute x 7 intervals
Week 6 - Jog 5 minutes / walk 1 minute x 7 intervals

He said week # 6 is when most people drop out. So I kinda stopped there and didn't get more info on the weeks after week # 6. Let's cross that bridge when we get to it, yes?

You're supposed to do this 3x a week, but maybe I an even go 4x or 5x. #ambitious

I think I'll tie this to a larger goal: 6 fitness activities per week, including at least 3x on the Sun Run regimen. Other activities could include yoga, barre, a 10k walk, or any other activity.

There won't be an IG component to this. But maybe I can just take a selfie and then compile it in a photo collage and post it here on LJ. Since no one reads this, there's really no one to hold me accountable, but maybe just the fact that I'm posting it and putting it out there will be enough of an incentive.

OK. That's the plan. I'm excited. I'm open. LET'S DO THIS.

health, life
