Wind storm, Zara and random updates

First, Trump update of the day:

The number of women who have come forward with allegations of sexual harrassment or assault against Donald Trump is now at seven. Two more women came forward today: Kristin Anderson, who alleged Trump molested her at a New York night club in the 1990s and Summer Zervos, a former Apprentice candidate. Meanwhile, big donors urge the GOP to cut ties with Trump.

Medyo nakakasawa na din, no? Also, watching Trump surrogates defend him on the news talk shows is getting increasingly nauseating and infuriating.

Speaking of Law & Order, there's an episode next week that's apparently about Trump and the allegations around him. Can't wait to see it. Of course, Fox News is already using this as another example of the corrupt liberal media.

Anyway, it's Friday afternoon right now. Loving this quiet time at home, safe and cozy while rain and a wind storm rages outside. P. and I were supposed to meet up for coffee, but we postponed due to the danger of toppling trees. LOL the older I get, the more paranoid I become. But seriously -- it happens. People get squished under toppled trees! Not to mention exploding glass doors. Check these photos out. This is the front door to our building:

This is the door to the next-door building:

The wind also did this to a tree on Kingsway. Look, it uprooted the whole tree and tore up the sidewalk along with it.

Crazy. I wouldn't venture outdoors unless I have to. I told P. to stay in the bakery today after his deliveries. Just best not to dare fate, you know?

Cooking tonight: Roasted potatoes with rosemary + something made of squash. We got a bunch of squash from the Stupid Box we picked up yesterday. It was supposed to be a Thanksgiving Box from last Sunday, but Jas, who runs God's Little Acre Farm had some health issues and the boxes to Vancouver didn't get delivered/picked up until Thursday. It's a bit of a messy, disorganized operation, but am OK at the end since I got my box, albeit belated. It had spinach, lettuce, cauliflower, celery, about eight carrots, six yams and sweet potatoes, three smallish squash, parsley, and about a dozen apples. Worth $35? Phil said if it's organic, then yes. If it's not (and I'm not sure it is), then he's not sure.

Eating today: I've been grazing all day. Chicken soup + two eggs; a corn on the cob; then the pain au chocolat and jasmine macaron (my favourite!) from Thierry earlier today. All this plus no exercise. SIGH. I'm gonna be a fattie by the time I get to Manila.

Flight: I'm heading back home to visit family in November, just after the U.S. elections (yup, I timed it just so). I'll be there for two weeks. Looking forward to seeing my grandma, whom I miss SO MUCH. Also, my new niece, Zara Yzabelle. Here's a photo of her courtesy of my brother thru Viber last night:

Isn't she the cutest? She looks like a mini- and girly Liam. I love her to bits already. Sometimes when I think about it, I feel like my heart would burst with love for my pamangkins. Talaga. I know that's sappy, and I don't even like kids, generally speaking! But these little cuties have my heart.

Anyway, back to Manila: I'm going to be there when my mom is here. I hope Mom doesn't mind. It's just the way how my work sked worked out. Plus, she will be here for a few months, so I'm going to make sure we spend enough time together. I think the time together would be good for us. I worry about our relationship, and her relationship with my other siblings, particularly my youngest sister C. and my brother A. More on this next time. More mundane concerns, however: With Mom here, am not sure meals/grocery shopping at home would work, or whether someone wll be in charge of refilling the water coolers. I hope she realizes she will have to delegate this or make alternate arrangements so the other people who live in the house aren't left stranded. Not sure if I should tell her or give her benefit of the doubt and assume she has the foresight and consideration to make these arrangements, knowing full well she won't be in the house. I personally think it is her duty to make sure the other residents of the house are taken care of. Here's hoping.

Trump break: For the second day in a row, Anderson Cooper is interviewing a woman who says Trump groped her. Hay naku!

Back to sanity: Folding laundry, browsing thru cookbooks, doing my to-do list for the coming week, on hold with Cathay Pacific. So, I'm going to extend my stay in HK by 24 hours. Instead of staying in the city for the day, I'm going to stay overnight and catch the 8:05 p.m. flight the next day. Finally, Tammy and I are going to have our long-awaited HK trip together, even if it's just for one day. It's gonna cost me $117 ($50 for the change fee and the rest for a fare change), but I'll suck it up. In order to save money, I'll just lug my luggage to the hotel instead of my original plan of leaving it at HKG's left luggage, which costs about $50. Puede na din. Plus, this means I can bring back yogurt for my sis-in-law.

Anyway, T. and I are going to stay at either the Excelsior Hotel or the Park Lane. Hooray! It's a total blast from the past. Growing up my family used to stay at these hotels when we're in HK for a vacation. It was only in the last couple decades that the fam vacation home base switched from Causeway Bay to Kowloon.
