Half of this is about how I got drunk. Fair warning.

So in case anyone was wondering why I seem to have dropped off the face of the internet, it's because I'm in a "cabin in the woods" on vacation. It's not so much a cabin as it is a nice house made out of wood and stuff, and it's not so much in the woods as it is on a gravel path on a mountain, in a small community of rich retired white people with similar "cabins".

It's nice. Real nice. Sometimes we run out of hot water and then it's like we're really roughing it.

Last night we marathoned the first season of Arakawa Under the Bridge. I came out of it shipping Sister/Maria hardcore and seriously contemplating writing fic for it.

Speaking of fic, I finished the one for primescream based on one of the prompts... it isn't in the competition, for multiple reasons, but I'll post it there after the contest is done. Then I'll have to write stuff for prizes, maybe. I dunno. Personally, I think everyone who wins should request drawings from juushinkan to kick her ass back into producing things for fandom. But that's just a suggestion.

This vacation was supposed to result in me writing ALL THE THINGS that I haven't finished yet. Mostly it seems to have resulted in chronic sleepiness, reading, and knitting. Oh, and I got pretty drunk last night. So there's that too.

In this cabin there are four people: myself, Juu, roommate Hime (whose parents own the cabin), and friend Po. Hime can make pretty good daiquiris, which we had the night before last around a campfire with smores and sausages. This time, Po claimed he recalled a recipe for a Perfect Margarita. A recipe that required only three ingredients: lime juice, tequila, and cointreau.

No. No, that is not it at all. We soon discovered this.

So it was a good thing Dani (other awesome friend who is bird-sitting) loaned us about half her liquor cabinet, including a giant bottle of bar syrup. Because with it, I was able to make a damned good margarita, despite having never mixed a drink before in my life, and without measuring anything.

That wasn't what I got smashed on, however. I poured Po's failed attempt at a margarita into some leftover daiquiri slush and drank it straight from the blender. I got about halfway through the damn thing before I started feeling dizzy and had to set it down before it sloshed all over his parents' nice floors and furniture. Then I spent a couple of hours laughing hysterically on the floor and making Juu promise to stop me if I started stripping, before I sobered up with some Chex cereal.

It's almost like I'm a real grown-up now.
