Genma-sensei

Kneeling in front of the fire pit he had dug in the sandy ground then lined with stones, Genma finished piling on the pieces of wood in the middle to keep it burning. He had selected this area because there was no grass nearby thus no risk of anything catching on fire except the food. Sitting back on his heels, he grabbed a large backpack resting nearby to check the amount of supplies he had. Removing a fold up grill set, he dropped it on top of the ice chest sitting on his other side. An assortment of equipment followed including a bag with two dozen sticks poking out of the top.

'Hm that seems to be everything. By the time they get here, the fire will be hot enough to cook on.' Shifting, he sat down on the ground. Again he was dressed in jeans, hiking boots that have seen better days, a grey t-shirt with his ever present bandanna and toothpick. He had decided if he was going to teach cooking then he wasn't wearing anything nicer. Picking up a poker, he prodded at the wood causing the stack to fall into the bottom of the pit in a shower of sparks. Nodding in satisfaction he grabbed his book, flipping it open to where he stopped last night and went to read.

Chuckling to himself, he knew that his students wouldn't expect what he had planned. If there was one thing he had learned in his time away from Japan is that the teachers didn't like to improvise. "Heh. Poor school for hiring me." Finishing the chapter, he replaced his bookmark and set the book into his bag then stretched his arms over his head. 'Well I'm here to make sure the kids learn how to have fun while learning how to cook. It shouldn't be a chore to them. Even Zaku-san can learn to like it.
