A Little Black Dress: Lost for Words

Edit: Just had to put this in! After I told TeamBlue of the book, Nano said this:
«+NanoPulp» Lost for Words, truly makes readers Lost for Words at the profane lack of morality and lousy heroine.
Well said, Nano, well said. XD

I read this book 3 days ago, which makes it, Saturday the 13th of November. From my previous entries, I did state I was reading this novel. I also did say it was nice, but, what I found out was that, only the beginning of the novel was nice. It was until Daisy, the main-character made more decisions, which were utterly ridiculous and downright silly. Well, I bet you all would want a synopsis of the novel, here ya go:

From the novel:
Sweet-natured Daisy, assistant at a large publishing house, has two wishes in life. One, to discover the ‘next big thing’ in books and two, for her gorgeous, philandering boyfriend Miles to finally commit.

But soon work starts looking up. When the thoughtful and witty Elliot Thornton comes in for a temporary placement, Daisy quickly forms a close friendship with him. But she’d never want to leave Miles for him, would she? Then, one day, while glancing through her rejection pile, she comes across the intriguing first pages of a novel. With spine-tingling excitement she emails the mysterious author straightaway and as chapter by chapter slowly filter through to her, she becomes completely spellbound. But somehow, there’s something very familiar about the heroine and her story…

An enchanting romance about a girl who knows she’s in love - she just doesn’t know who with…

As you can see, there are two men. Both are gorgeous and charming, especially Elliot, of course. One of the things which this book left out, or the author left out, are the descriptions of the characters. I do not even know how Elliot looks like, except that he has...blue eyes? How about his hair? Until what length is it? I do not know. Maybe there are novels like this which leave the imagination of the characters up to you, I do not know, but I prefer the author to give descriptions of them. One of the things which let me down the most is that, this novel doesn't have good morals in it. Daisy was even sleeping with Miles before he became her boyfriend...I mean, what the heck is that? Even before he is your boyfriend! She even calls that "the next step"....*slaps Daisy*

Other than that, Elliot was very charming most of the time, or, each time he appears in the novel, until, yeah, like I wrote before, he lit a cigar! Whut?! Cigar = no-no, but that was a different case for Daisy, she thought cigars made men look more handsome...Ok, I put the sleeping with her not-yet-boyfriend and smoking aside. Now, she gave Miles another chance after one of her friends saw him kissing another lady intimately. Ok, 1 chance, why? To see whether she can see a future with him. After that one chance, she decided she's not made up for him and vice versa. Of course, she broke up with him later on.

In between the incidents and all, Elliot was the one who was there to comfort her. Sorry for not stating this earlier. Afterwards, when Daisy was in Venice, Miles suddenly appeared and proposed to her under the moonlight on a vongola. Well, what was she thinking for the yes or no? The way he proposed, she said, because of this romantic proposal, it's hard for her to say no. Ahhh...very smart of her. Marriage isn't about that, it's about the person. She already gave him a chance and couldn't see a future with him, now she's actually thinking of saying yes because of the way he proposed?! What the...very mature indeed. That chapter ended there, and when I read the beginning of the chapter, I thought the story is no longer worth me staying up late to read it.

"Hey, what did you see/read?" I read that she woke up with Miles beside her. Yes. And, owh, maybe you thought she said "yes" already, but, noooo! She hasn't even said a word, and now she's sleeping with him again...*slaps Daisy again*. When she had returned to Venice and found out that the mysterious writer, William, was actually Elliot himself. That said charming guy confessed to her when they were meeting up at Pizza Express. Daisy was having a hard time to choose, though the answer was so obvious, but, oh well, maybe she just couldn't see it. I'll shake that off, but what made me really dislike Daisy until the end was when Daisy was asking her sister, Belle, what to do, Daisy said this, "I wouldn't want to choose anyone of those 2. I'll just leave them hanging. That's right! I'll do just that!"(or something along the lines), oh wow! Look at how thoughtful she is! Leaving them hanging? That's one of the things you can actually kill someone with. The most hateable character in Lost for Words is very obvious; Daisy. The second runner up, Miles. Didn't quite like Daisy's friends at certain points too.

This novel is only 25% nice for me. You see, this is what novelist always forget. They always forget to make their heroine someone who has a nice personality. All through the novel, I could only see Daisy making silly silly choices and acting like she dearly wants you to hate her. When she wasn't doing those things, she would be those normal characters who do not stand out at all. Not one personality of her stood out, because none of them were special (positively). Some shoujo mangakas tend to miss this out too. Owh, and not to forget, some Korean dramas. Their heroines are most of the time complaining and pushing the guy they are going to end up with away.
Of course, from this novel also, you can see that in the mind of the author, sex is no longer sacred and something you're supposed to enjoy with your SPOUSE only. Haha, and sorry for filling this post with flames, lol. I'll end this here. Owh, and yes, I am going to black-list the author too. I am not going to spend RM19.90 for such a novel again. Now I am also wondering whether the other novels from A Little Black Dress are like this too.....
