um, better late than never? travel back with me, won't you, to this past may, exactly three months ago to the day, and one fantastic weekend spent with those chemical romantics.
friday, may 27 - LA, night 1
friday began with the obligatory fangirl meetup, complete with boozy milkshakes and grub. i had the falafel sliders.
since some of us were returning for night 2, we decided to kick it toward the back on ray's side for night 1, thus giving us a little more breathing room to move around and enjoy the show. and enjoy we did (duh). (the vip section was up in the balcony just behind us and we could see mama way totally rocking out. it was super cute. <3)
i didn't take many pictures, bc lolll so many hands and fists in my eyeline. ;)
it was a good night. ♥
and saturday was even better.
saturday, may 28 - LA, night 2
our plans to arrive early enough to get close to the stage were thwarted by THE LONGEST LINE I'VE EVER SEEN. it was already moving when we walked up and it STILL took over an hour to get in (not to mention it was fricken freezing out - for LA).
since getting close to the stage on the floor was no longer an option, we opted for the balcony on frank's side and nabbed a pretty kick-ass spot. we skipped the openers friday, so this was my first time hearing them. i really enjoyed the architects but was less than impressed with circa survivie. the most interesting thing about their set was when the singer came out in a red dress.
but eventually, our favorite mcrs were right below us and all was right with the world. HI, BOYS. ♥_♥
this one kills me. gerard feels things, okay?
i'd never watched one of their shows from the balcony before, and one of the most enjoyable sights (aside from those 6 goobers on stage) was the audience down below moving around and raising their fists in uniform. it was a pretty spectacular sight.
frank, now you see him...
...now you don't, lol.
that fucker is hard to photograph. he doesn't stop moving! and these are the best shots i could get of pedicone:
sunday, may 29 - vegas, baby, vegas
it was hard to imagine that it could get even better, but IT DID. we found our best spots yet along the bar, frank's side again, just a bit above the stage. there was just one row of people between us and the railing.
idk if it was our stellar spots, the smaller venue, the crowd itself who were REALLY INTO IT, or the fact that it was the last night of this tour, but They Fucking Rocked. \o/
(there was a couple in front of us, and naturally i assumed that the girl dragged her boyfriend along, but no! HE SANG ALL THE LYRICS and fist pumped in all the right places! :D he was the fan, not her. it's silly, but i was so delighted and charmed.)
and despite the boys being right in front of us, my pictures were STILL coming out blurry. /o\ oh, krit. maybe some day. here are the better ones.
and then at some point i became obsessed with trying to get a shot of frank's new tattoo. i failed of course. ("i think it's a padlock! but that would be weird!")
(not being on tumblr, i don't even know, has fandom been able to snag a good shot of it yet? i haven't come across anything and that seems strange after all this time.)
and thus concludes mcrfest 2011, part the first. looking forward to three more shows in part the second this october! \o/
