So I made it to Korea.  I'm gonna be cheesy and call this my own Y2K -- Year 2 Korea.  So far it's much better than the first.  Let's examine why:

1.) My plane was delayed by 3 hours in Detroit.  Because of this delay, I missed my connecting flight from Japan to Korea.  This sounds like a bad thing at first glance, but not so.  It was a "mechanical delay"; therefore, Northwest had to pay for my hotel in Japan AND dinner and breakfast.  AND I got to rest up after the long flight so I wouldn't have to be exhausted when it was time to meet my recruiter and possibly my boss and try to move in.  So I arrived the next day at 1:00 pm, well-rested and ready to go.  No problem.

2.)  Instead of being in Yangsan, which is basically a suburb of Busan, I am 6 subway stops away from the most bustling place in the city!  I am also one block away from Gwangali beach, and I can actually see the water from my room!  Convenience stores are right on the corner, and I've already found the nearest Baskin Robbins.  I'm still working on finding the McDonald's though.  Anyway, I am very excited about these things.

3.)  Last year, I had a big fat obnoxious roommate, who was later followed by another roommate who was tolearble, but still took up more space.  This year -- I have a single apartment!!!!  Awesome.

So, hmm, I guess those are the big three reasons.  I still have not met my boss or anyone who works at my school, and I also don't know when I start working.  I will not officially have my visa for another two weeks, meaning that I cannot legally work in this country until then.  But I will be surprised if they don't want me to start working before that.

The only bad thing right now is that I have no internet, and I don't know when I will, so I have to go to the PC rooms.  Which wouldn't really be a problem if these people believed in air conditioning.  OH -- how could I forget --

4.) I have air conditioning!!!!  As opposed to the small purple fan I had in Yangsan.

So at this very moment, life is good.  Ah-Sah!  (Korean for "yay!")
