I was in band class sometime during the first month of school.
For some reason, I wasn't in Wind Ensemble (because there was a huge crowd in front of me, and Wind Ensemble is only supposed to be around 40ish people.)
So, we were sight reading this piece. At the top, it said RAF (Royal Air Force March), which the senior band played last year, but for some reason, when we played it, it sounded a LOT like Barnum and Bailey's Favorite (which I played two years ago in Intermediate Band, LOL).
This would have been all fine and good, but...
Because I didn't practice over the summer, I forgot all my clarinet fingerings.
Or rather, I kept remembering them a beat too late.
And then I was having rhythm issues as well (slurs over bar lines?? I can't deal with this!! That's what my dream self said, LOL)
So I basically sat there and air played. Or tried to air play. LOL
Afterwards, the teacher (who was a substitute teacher, a women with glasses and short brown hair), asked me what was wrong with me. Like, what the hell are you doing in Senior Band if you can't even do something so simple.
And I said, "I didn't practice over the break....>_<"
And she said, "Oh."
I forgot what I said after that, but then she said, "It's not that I think that you're deadweight, it's just that while I was watching you, I thought, "Aah, the clarinet section is too big, so we should eliminate some people and move them to percussion..." "
LOL In reality, I wouldn't mind that too much, XD. Except I can't play toms or drum kit to save my life.
So yeah. I should probably start strengthening my embouchure again...instead of goofing around on my drum pad.
That reminds me, I haven't received the music for Wind Ensemble to practice over the summer yet...
Oh well. Our teacher is MIA anyway, XD (He's actually traveling, but whatever.)
