Honestly, Hankyu. Wasn't having Asako suffer enough? And now you're having Kimu without a solid partner.
Kimu doesn't deserve this. She doesn't. She wasn't glittery and awesome in Wasureyuki to get THIS as a reward.
I am happy she made top star. I'm looking forward to seeing her in a variety of things. But this is NOT what I was expecting.
But if you really think about it, Takarazuka musumeyaku are in a pretty bad position.
If you look at the Top Star chart on TakaWiki, Yuki and Tsuki are THE ONLY TROUPES that have had TWO (yes, TWO) instances when there has been no top musumeyaku. Weird and unjust? I SAY YES.
Not to mention the age of the musumeyaku being promoted. (This is something that wao_wao has commented on a number of times, most justifiably, in my opinion). Currently, the top musmeyaku now are:
Aono Yuki (Moon) - Ken-6
Aihara Mika (Snow) - Ken-5
Yumesaki Nene (Star) - Ken-5
Nono Sumika (Cosmos) - Ken-4
Ranno Hana (Flower) - Ken-4
(This is upon top star debut, by the way.)
Not that this is necessarily a BAD thing. Fusa-san was ken-3/ken-4 when she became top star,as was Ayane
(Looking at the chart, it sure took a while for Tonami (then ken-7) and Asuka (then ken-8/ken-9 to make it to top. Wow.)
And if you look at who has retired/is retiring from the otokoyaku and musumeyaku editions of New Generation...
For otokoyaku, it's 9/36 (25%)
For musumeyaku, it's 8/20 (40%)
Maybe this might not be too significant to some people, but I personally think that this is a bit worrying. The fact that 40% of the musumeyaku the company thought were "popular" in 2006 have retired (although four have become top stars, with one retired).
There are other people on LJ that have done much more in-depth statistics regarding top stars, so you can go track those down at your leisure.
But yeah. Kimu really doesn't deserve this. And neither do the musumeyaku around her. These girls put a whole lot of work in, and at least one of them *deserves* recognition. But then, Hankyu really doesn't care. And based on Asako and Saeko's situations, did it ever?
