Uzumaki is the most disturbing manga I have ever read DX

That doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. But still...had I been a few years younger, I would have definitely gotten nightmares.
I first started reading it in the bookstore for a really stupid reason: because the title "Uzumaki" reminded me of "Uzumaki Naruto". I'm serious. That's such a crappy reason XD And then I got hooked on it and started reading it on the internet, and then I was sort of like, "WTF is going on here...?"
But if you like horror, go read this manga now, because it's awesome, if you're into that sort of thing.

Basically, this manga is about a town called Kurouzu-cho and how it's inhabitants are cursed, and as a result, become obsessed with natural and artificial spirals.
Well, that doesn't sound too bad, now does it? But don't be decieved!
The first thing that almost put me off this manga was when the male lead's father dies...by contorting himself into a spiral inside a washtub and killing himself. And then when he's cremated, the fumes form a spiral, and then a shape of his face. Finally, the male lead's mother becomes so afraid of spirals that when she finds out she has a spiral in her ear, she takes a pair of scissors, and...well, I don't really want to fill in the rest.

And that's not all! In volume two, the female lead stays in the hospital and finds out that all the pregnant women have been bitten by mosquitoes and develop a taste for human blood. And when they finally give birth, the babies can talk, and are trying to get the doctor to sew them back into their mother's wombs. In exchange for their placenta and umbilical cords, because the doctor apparently wants to eat it.

EW!

And then - this was the worst thing, in my opinion - the townspeople start turning into snails. Not the cute, tiny kind though. They become human sized snails with human heads and antenna and shells and everything. And at this point in the story, no one can escape out of Kurouzu-cho, so everyone is starving. So what do they do?
They start eating the snail-people as though they're escargot.

EWWWW!!!!!!!!!

So yeah. There's more interesting and disturbing stuff here, and if you're a good person, you'll read it instead of looking it up on Wikipedia! ^_^
