well, that was annoying

Well, my computer decided to die on me yesterday (Tuesday). Was chugging along fine, with no signs of anything wrong, but when I got back to it, had the "you must restart your computer" in fourteen different languages over the BOINC screensaver, along with the international symbol of power. Once following the instructions, that was the last I saw of anything on the screen - total black screen, with only the startup chime and the "hey look! you pressed the power button!" light on the front telling me that I had rebooted. Took it almost immediately to the Apple Store (it actually happened during a sane hour, wonder of wonders), same thing happened, and they put in a work order to replace the logic board. Good thing for warranties, and I think I need to get AppleCare (it somehow fell through the cracks when we were ordering it and in the months immediately following it). Website is showing no information on the status of said repair other than that it was entered and a repair number, and since my sister was the one to officially buy the machine, they are using her contact information (meaning there are no doubt questions as to why someone from Maryland is dropping off a computer at a Houston Apple Store). So I'm currently down to two computers... wonder how I'll survive. Also getting intermittent internet, so you may not be able to completely rely on e-mail to get things to me.

We're just not having very good luck with this class of computers, are we, susangc7?

(begin D&D geek stuff/end tech geek stuff) Also need to think of ways get my Thursday night D&D character out of a near impossible mess (entirely my own fault - with everyone else showing great restraint in not letting me get killed)... He happened to be separated from the other members of the party and doesn't have the MacGuyver skillz that they showed. Will probably have to get them to rescue him, and we all know how well that might go...

tech, home, d&d
