artificial sugar embargo (and running and legs)

A couple of things have been rambling around my head.  First, I'd really like to not consume artificial sugar.  And I love diet soda and fake sweeteners in my tea and coffee.  I feel like using artificial sweeteners will help with my weight loss, but not with my overall, long term health, and the health of the planet in general.  So, just for the rest of November I'm going to stop consuming them.  I'll see how it goes.  If it's not too hard, I'll keep it up in December, at least until I go on vacation.  In theory I'd like to convert to a 100% natural and organic diet of things that didn't do too much harm to the environment (like large pig farms, etc.).  My current situation makes that a challenge, but it's something to ease into over the years.

Instead of artificial sweeteners, I've uped my real sugar intake a little, and cut back on sweet stuff a little to make a balance.  I just drank a new coke concoction that I'm not sure I'll try again.  I took a cup of regular coke, a cup of soda water and squeezed a lime in it.  It was pretty good, but it's still a lot of sugar.  I think if I have a desperate craving, it'll suffice, and if I only buy a little bottle (500 mL) and drink it over a few days every once in a while it'll work.  I need to make friends with stevia...blech, don't like that stuff.

Next, my 500 miles.  Due to traveling over the Thanksgiving break I didn't do any running for five days, but I still have the goal in my sites and am currently suited up for a run.  I'll make it!!  (As of today I have 91.8 miles to go!)

I went to Puno this weekend to see the lake and hang out with my boyfriend (yes, I've decided do call him that, big step for a commit-a-phobe).  Wow, I just have to say wow.  He has the most amazing legs!  I mean, he hikes for a living (he's a guide), so it makes sense...but, wow.  I want those legs!  Or the girl version of those legs.  :-)
