Takizawa strives to be perfect. It is in his innate personality that he is competitive and that he is a perfectionist - there is nothing wrong with striving for perfection, he thinks. It doesn’t matter if he overworks himself, loses massive weight, and loses sleep because of the stress he heaped upon himself because that is the way a perfectionist to be. When a new single or album is to be released, he works on memorizing dance moves and lyrics, and training his vocal chords every opportunity he gets. When it is time to stage another musical for the new season or the new year, he stays up all night with coffee and cigarettes, sketching stage backdrops, making notes for stage direction, thinking of roles for the juniors, thinking about his own role. When it is time to film a new drama, Takizawa is never to be found without a script and a pencil, folding specific pages, making markings in the margins, muttering to himself. It is an endless cycle for him, and Takizawa goes with it - never pausing, never resting, never stopping and never settling for something less than perfect.
Tsubasa watches as Takizawa haphazardly rushes from one studio to another, to fulfill interview commitments, photoshoots, recordings, what have you. He watches as Takizawa valiantly practices dance moves in the studio at ten o’clock at night, trying to work out tricky footsteps so he will be perfect for a performance recording the next day, and watches the frustration on his face every time he misses a step. He watches as Takizawa knocks his head against the wall for missing a note when they are recording a new song. He watches as Takizawa forgets to sleep, forgets to eat, only remembering stage directions of his musical. He watches the tiredness in Takizawa’s eyes as he reads the script, using his pencil to trace every line because he was too tired to read properly anymore. He watches Takizawa dozing off at random moments of the day, only to jolt up three seconds later because of another commitment. He watches as Takizawa strives to be perfect because Takizawa will never want to be anything less than perfect.
Takizawa knows he has to be perfect not only for himself, but for Tsubasa, for his partner. He knows that Tsubasa will not care that whether is he perfect, but it matters to Takizawa. He has to be perfect because Tsubasa should not settle for anything less.
Tsubasa thinks it is okay to be flawed. He has his flaws - his tendency to drift off at times, leaving Takizawa to handle an interview alone (especially in the early debut days), and the fact that his acting skills are just not up to par. He doesn’t understand Takizawa’s quest for perfection, and neither does he know that it was for him.
Takizawa wishes he is perfect, but he knows he is not. All he can do is try to be.
Tsubasa wishes that Takizawa will stop trying to be perfect, but he knows that Takizawa will not stop. All he can do is watch him and keep wishing.

“Go to sleep. It’s almost midnight.”
Takizawa raises an eyebrow, but his head remains buried inside his script as he taps his pen against his teeth. “What?” He answers, only half listening.
Tsubasa leans over and yanks the script out of his partner’s hand. “Go to sleep.” He repeats, matter-of-factly.
Takizawa shoots him an annoyed look, lunging for the script but fails as the taller man held it above his head. “Don’t play, Tsubasa. I have to learn half the lines by Friday.”
“I’ve heard you rehearse the lines three times. You’re fine.”
“‘Fine’ is not good enough, I need to be perfect.” Takizawa argues.
“You don’t have to be perfect all the time.” Tsubasa answers quietly.
Takizawa looks frustrated. “I have to be.”
“Why?” Tsubasa persists.
“Well…” Takizawa falters. “For you. You’re perfect, so I have to be, too.”
Tsubasa blinks, taken back. “I’m not perfect.”
“You are,” Takizawa insists. “You just don’t know.”
Tsubasa is silent for a moment, and then he places the script on the table. Taking two steps closer to Takizawa, he picks up Takizawa’s right hand with his left, gripping his partner’s fingers tightly. He traces his right hand over Takizawa’s cheek, wishing he could smooth out all the lines of exhaustion. Doesn’t he know that Tsubasa shares the same sentiment? Takizawa doesn’t need to try to be perfect, if it is for Tsubasa.
Takizawa is perfect the way he is, workaholic worrywart and all.
“You are perfect, too. You just don’t know it.”

The word 'perfect' is overused because it's meant to be. I kinda suck that way.
