(I picked this solely because Rachel reads it in one episode of "Friends", just so you know.)
It seems to be Dystopia Fortnight. Rand creates a Dystopia in which mankind has fallen back into the dark ages, without so much as electricity and running water, and no one is allowed to think of themself as an individual, everyone is a "we". The protagonist, who is only a number at first and later calls himself Prometheus, because he invents a way to make light, breaks free from the community and discovers his individual self, and love on the way. I thought it was a bit too obvious in its symbolism of community versus individual (is it symbolism? Is there such a thing as obviousism?), and the characters lacked faults, though the language was beautiful.
