In 2005, in my post Watching《哈利·波特与火焰杯》 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in Beijing, I said:

Voldmort's name is transliterated - he is 伏地魔 Fu Di Mo. There's no 'vo' sound in Chinese and I was wondering why they didn't go for 'wo' but then I realised that Voldemort would sound too much like the Chinese word for Walmart.

One sight I really enjoy is the fact that Walmart sells custard tarts and Portuguese tarts and when I leave the store, I see whole groups of people sitting outside eating them! They leave the store, plonk themselves down on any ledge, bench, step they can find and whole groups of people will open the packets of tarts and munch on them there and ( Read more... )

The weekend was busy because I had a lot of homework to do and it took me ages. I also was spending far too much time on audiography. They had three great themes in a row - movie themes, big band and then covers. Now they're onto New Orleans Jazz I think I can slow down too. ( Read more... )
