View from our first hotel room (the Excelsior in Causeway Bay).

Glimpse across the harbour at Kowloon side.

On the Saturday, I was plagued by work phone calls but after those were sorted, we caught the subway from Causeway Bay to Mongkok.

Around Mongkok on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong. In Mongkok we had a very late lunch at a Hong Kong style restaurant. The Canadian tried his first red bean ice (which he didn't really like :). He had a huge bowl of wontons and I had noodles. He also had his first experience of 打台 daap toi (sharing a table), a very common practice in HK where you share a table with total strangers.

From Mongkok we caught a bus back to Wan Chai. From there we walked around, then caught a tram to Central where we wandered around before having dessert at the Western Markets (end of the tramline). Then we rode the tram back to Causeway Bay.

Some street shots

On the Sunday, before leaving Causeway Bay we stopped by a Hong Kong cafe to have lunch and dessert. We had a rice and chicken dish served in bamboo. The Canadian had mushrooms with his and I had salted egg yolk with mine.

Menu for the HK cafe

Sago 'vs' black glutinous rice. Hee hee! :)

The most important part of the meal. Dessert. The Canadian had mango pancakes and I had grass jelly with coconut milk and sago balls :)

Close-up of the three-flavoured mango pancakes :)

On Sunday, we checked into our new room at the Four Seasons hotel located in IFC2. I posted about it here, too.

Our room had a really nice bathroom but slightly overly illuminated ;) I preferred to shower with the lights out and just use the rather dim floor lights for lighting.

View of Hong Kong's last real junk out on the harbour.

Post 2 is here.
