Starring: Jaycee Chan,
Nicholas Tse 謝霆鋒, Shawn Yu, and Wu Jing.
I finished watching the latest
Nicholas Tse 謝霆鋒 movie 男兒本色 Invisible Target. The Chinese title has nothing to do with the English. 男兒本色 means 'the inherent qualities of manhood'. :D As you can imagine it's an action movie with lots of machismo ;) It's a Hong Kong movie but like all Hong Kong movies on the mainland, it's been dubbed into Mandarin. :P That's a shame for a few reasons - I like to hear the original actor's voices. With the exception of
Nicholas Tse 謝霆鋒 (who is fluent in Mandarin), the other actors were dubbed. There's frequently a mismatch between their faces and their dubbed voices. For some reason, female voices always fare worst. I have no idea why it is, but when they dub women in mainland China, their voices are always high-pitched, Minnie Mouse-sounding. It's incredibly annoying. Still, Nicholas' voice was his own and that's what counts ;)
