Buying HP in Beijing :) Photos, no spoilers
I have my copy of HP7. Is it weird that I'm a bit nervous about reading it because I know once I start I'll devour it, I'll finish it and then it will be over?
I met up with my fellow-Harry Potter fan and colleague Wiebke (from our firm's Cologne office aka German Girl II) at the Foreign Language Bookstore this morning so here are some photographs :)
She was so funny because she sms'd me and said: "There are police here! Are they expecting a riot?"
It turns out that they were security guards for the bank next door and had absolutely nothing to do with the Potterdämmerung
This was the queue outside the Wangfujing Bookstore which is the primarily Chinese-language bookstore. They also have English books and clearly they also had a Harry Potter deal going.
As I approached the Foreign Language Bookstore I saw the queue.
Wiebke had been there since 6.30am. The sign says Harry Potter 7 - worldwide, coordinated release.
Bemused security guards outside the bank who were arranging for delivery of funds and must have been wondering why all these crazy Harry Potter fans were queuing up so early.

The first five people bought the American translation from what we could see and Wiebke and I started panicking that there were no British versions available. Then we got our first glimpse of the books
To our relief they had American translation, British children's version and British adult's version. I of course bought the British version.
We bought our copies and started walking towards the Grand Hyatt to have brunch. On the way, we passed the Wangfujing Bookstore where the queue was still quite long. The fans there were staring enviously at our Harry Potter bags and posters :D

While at the Hyatt, dad phoned me to see if I had my copy and tell me about a Canberra HP fan who had to be rescued from the freezing cold waters of Lake Burley Griffin yesterday after dropping a pre-purchase receipt for HP7.
I just spoke to my bro on the phone, too but he is underwhelmed by Pottermania :D
