I stuffed up, 'A Place in the World' by Kim Richey was from the episode
Shells and not
A Hole in the World as I mistakely thought.
The song is so gorgeous.
Someday I'll go where there ain't no rain or snow
‘Til then, I travel alone
And I make my bed with the stars above my head
And I dream of a place called home
The guitar introduction and the melancholy start of the song reminds me of a song by Joan Baez, Nanci Griffith or Beth Nielsen Chapman. I didn't like the song for the first two lines: Well, it's not hard to see, Anyone who looks at me, but after that it really grew on me. The chorus in particular is wonderful. Richey's voice reminds me of Patty Griffin, a bit of Vienna Teng and a little bit of Heather Nova.
In Shells, Illyria stands beside Wes, looks out the window to the lab below where her sarcophagus lies.
Illyria: We cling to what is gone. Is there anything in this life but grief?
Wesley: There's love. There's hope...for some. There's hope that you'll find something worthy... that your life will lead you to some joy... that after everything... you can still be surprised.
Illyria: Is that enough? (looks at Wes) Is that enough to live on?
There's a musical montage and among other things, we flashback to a younger and happier Fred leaving her parents home and driving into the sunset ......

here Lyrics
Well, it's not hard to see
Anyone who looks at me
Knows I am just a rolling stone
Never landing any place to call my own
To call my own
Well, it seems like so long ago
But it really ain't you know
I started out a crazy kid
Miracle I made it through the things I did
The things I did
Someday I'll go where there ain't no rain or snow
‘Til then, I travel alone
And I make my bed with the stars above my head
And dream of a place called home
I had a chance to settle down
Get a job and live in town
Work in some old factory
I never liked the foreman standing over me
Over me
Oh I’d rather walk a winding road
Rather know the things I know
See the world with my own eyes
No regrets, no looking back, no goodbyes
No goodbyes
Someday I'll go where there ain't no rain or snow
‘Til then, I travel alone
And I make my bed with the stars above my head
And I dream of a place called home
