An accident takes another life
One of our college seniors, Karthikeyan (affectionately called Kuchi, because of his lean build) succumbed to injuries after meeting with a rather trivial accident on Friday. From what I learnt from my friends, it was because he did not wear a helmet. He suffered serious injury to his head and succumbed to it.
Wearing a helmet is still considered as an act of exagerrated safety in our country. Very few people have realised that it is a very basic safety measure. Unfortunately this realisation dawns upon people only after witnessing a near or dear one pay a rather hefty price for not wearing one. Wearing the helmet saved me from injury once, when I fell off my vehicle with my head hitting the ground first. I am sure Palanidaran and mssnlayam will vouch for it. It is disappointing that we refuse to learn from other's fatal mistakes.
So all you bikers out there, please wear a helmet when you are on a bike. Wear one even if you are a pillion rider. And always use a helmet which has the jaw guard.
