Finally coming back with some recs. The first recs are going to be (big surprise) in the SGA fandom and per my usual, Rodney-centric. ;)
Could Be Worse and
Where the Buffalo Roam by
nottasha These particular fics of NotTasha's aren't done justice by the summaries. In the first story there are these cute, wittle, iddy, biddy *cough* swarming *cough* lizards that just seem to love Rodney. Oh, and in the second story, bison get high on ancient horticulture and eventually give Rodney kisses. Right? Did you read the part about the lizards? They're both crazy and some of my personal favs of NotTasha's work. Wonderful, team stories with tons of Rodney boo boos. Gen, novella-ish length, team, h/c, adventure, bison AND lizard kisses...
Now, I've heard some *ahem* people complaining in some very inappropriate places imo about some loony idea that NotTasha writes formulaic stories with an obvious outcome. Supposedly, if you've read one then you've read them all. I strongly disagree with that opinion, and I'd like to scream at bloody somebody for carrying on this lengthy argument in what was supposed to be a fic REC list...not a flame list. Can you tell I've been holding that in for a while? Yeah.
And You Loathe the Ground by Sardonicsmiley
This story, I think, is the best that Sardonicsmiley's done. I've seen wing!john fic to the point that I'm about to pull my hair out, and then I see this little nugget of love. She's absolutely wonderful at taking a plot device that should be a little overblown and shmoopy and making it into this gritty, gutrenchingly painful thing that is beautiful, intimate, and absolutely real. I adore this story. Its long so you can immerse in the feel of it, and please do so. McShep, major angst and h/c, romance, novel length.

Nocturne by
tiranog I've loved her fiction for some time now, as I read her McShep fic. I was utterly gobsmacked, recently, to find that I was reading Snarry fic, so it lead me, naturally, back to her site for more. I will tell you that I am solely a Harry fan in this fandom, so that is the only reason why I am not recommending Tiranog's other Snarry fic. Otherwise, go read it if you are a Severus fan. :) Nocturne, however, still has it's soft spots for Snape. Snape goes through the excruciating ordeal of living as a non-killing vampire. The difference, for me, is that in this story, Tiranog doesn't forget what Harry has to endure inorder to be with the man he's coming to love. Snarry *gasp*, blood-play, vampirism, novella length, h/c, romance, post-Hogwarts.
Cambiare Podentes: Invocare and the sequel,
Cambiare Podentes: Madurare by
jordangrant Oh, where to begin with these. I've figured out by now that most have already read these, but I'll rec them anyway. This was the very first Snarry I ever read...which was several months ago, now. If you love lengthy bits, this one is most definitely for you. Truly novel length, this story goes into great detail mapping out several months of Harry and Severus' lives before and after the Cambiare Podentes ceremony of binding (a binding of one wizard to the another as property to allow the owned wizard more power). Now, I will be honest, for a long time in this fic I absolutely loved her version of Snape. His character was spot on from the start and was believable even while he slowly warmed to Harry as his new bonded. Harry, I can't truly say was out of character at the beginning. I'm iffy on that. I want to say that he was, because he handled all of it so badly, while Severus takes it in stride. I think it just shook me a little that for a while, I liked Severus more than Harry, personally. He does come around, though, and the wait is SO worth it. Just read it. Snarry, romance, novel length, slave-fic (sort of?), h/c, non-con, Hogwarts years.
