So I guess I may have missed some people when announcing this: I have a new job! I started last week, and so far so good! It's still in publishing, but a development house this time, and I'm making more money which is a big bonus, though not as much as I'd been hoping for. I'm doing a mix of editing and project management (Editorial Coordinator is the title), and it's a small company that sounds like they really help their employees grow, train and move up in the company itself. So, yay!
I'm also going to Montreal on Thursday for a long weekend. Also yay!
I went roller-skating last night for Will's birthday out in Dorchester, it was hilarious and fun all around. I hadn't done that in years, and neither had anyone else. There were some very impressive skaters there, though! After the frivolity we went to the IHOP in Quincy for food, then headed home. I was wicked tired and didn't notice til RJ and I got home that I'd left my camera at IHOP. So I called, they had it, said I could come by and get it from the manager tomorrow (aka today, now).
I drove over there today. Guess what no one told me? The manager leaves at 5. And locked up my camera in the safe, which no one else can open! I drove like 40 minutes for frigging nothing! Now I have to return tomorrow, meaning I'm probably going to end up missing jiu jitsu (which I'm obviously missing Thursday), so I can drive out there again and get my camera for real! I was pretty ticked off by this. No one said anything about when the manager would and would not be there, etc, and I somehow imagine that they could've mentioned that and figured out, oh hey, we should tell her he locks stuff like this up after he leaves and no one else can get it. Meh.
I can probably at least bring some gym clothes and use the free gym at work. I know!! Free gym at work! It looks like a fairly simple thing, a room with some weights and machines in it, but still! Free! And right in the basement! w00t! I can finally do that cardio I've been wanting to do without having to run in the frigid cold or something.
Well, I'm a bit tired, so to bed with me. And reading for a bit, honestly. Yay books. :)
