~One: Stomach Virus~
Kusano had been vomiting non-stop. He couldn't keep any kind of food or drink down and his stomach felt like it was being turned inside out.
Koyama refused to let him leave his bed, and so he was confined to his room for the week with no one to keep him company but the toilet.
But Friday changed this as Kusano heard a knock on his room door.
"Come in," he groaned out.
The door opened to reveal a smiling Tegoshi.
"Hi Notti!" he exclaimed.
Kusano smiled.
"Hey Tesshi," he said. "I wouldn't come in if I were you. I'm contagious."
Tegoshi nodded.
"I can't stay long anyway. I'm meeting Yamashita-kun and Ryo-tan at the bowling alley. I was just worried about you and I wanted to see you."
He smiled and Kusano felt his stomach twitch. He passed it off as a reflex, assuming he was about to hurl again.
"Thanks, Tegoshi," he said, smiling. "I feel a little better now."
Tegoshi smiled again.
"I'm glad I could help," he said, turning to leave. "See you later, Notti."
Kusano smiled. Suddenly having a stomach virus didn't seem to be that bad.
Until he had to hurl again.
~Two: Strep Throat~
Two weeks later Kusano caught strep throat, and Koyama confined Kusano to his house once more.
"It's just my throat," Kusano protested hoarsely. "Can I at least go to the mall?"
"No!" Koyama told him. "You need to rest and concentrate on healing. And you could be contagious."
Koyama proceeded to shove Kusano into his bed.
"Shige," Kusano whined. "Please talk some sense into him!"
"Keii-chan he's only contagious if someone shares food or drink with him."
"Don't care," Koyama said. "He's not leaving the room."
"But mom," Kusano said, pretending to whine.
"Trust me Kusacchi this for your own good," Koyama replied, grinning. "You know I wouldn't push this if I didn't think that."
"I know," Kusano groaned.
"Good," Koyama replied, grinning. "Now take a nap, I'll be back with some soup in about an hour."
Koyama and Shige left the room, Shige muttering 'you really should stop babying him'
Kusano chuckled and curled up in his sheets, drifting off to sleep.
Exactly an hour later, Koyama came into the room with a large bowl and a thermos.
"Time to eat Kusacchi!" he exclaimed.
"What's in the thermos?" Kusano asked.
"Why don't you read the note attached to it?" Koyama asked, grinning.
Kusano pulled the note off of the thermos, opened it and read it smiling.
Notti,
Keii-chan told me you caught strep throat and I wanted to do something to help you get better. So I made you some tea. I hope you like it!"
- Tegoshi Yuya
"That was nice of him," Kusano said, pouring some of the tea into a glass a taking a sip. "Umai! It's really good!"
Koyama smiled.
"I'll tell him you liked it," he said.
"Can I do it?"
"You can barely talk."
"I just wanna say thank you," Kusano replied. "I won't talk long. Please mom?"
Koyama laughed.
"Fine Kusacchi," he said. "You can call him."
"Yes!" Kusano exclaimed, pumping his fist. He picked up the phone and quickly dialed Tegoshi's number.
"Moshi! Moshi!" Tegoshi exclaimed and Kusano smiled at his energy.
"Hi Tesshi, it's Kusa."
"Hi Notti! Oh you sound horrible!"
Kusano laughed.
"You should've heard me last night," he said. "Koyamachi said I sounded like a seal."
Tegoshi giggled.
"Did Keii-chan give you the tea?" he asked.
"That's what I was calling about. I just wanted to say thank you. It's really good, Tesshi."
"Thanks! I made it myself. Is it helping your throat?"
"Yep."
"Great!" Tegoshi exclaimed, joyfully.
Kusano laughed.
"I gotta go Tesshi," he said. "Koyamachi's giving me a death glare."
"Okay, bye Notti!"
"Bye."
Kusano hung up the phone and took another sip of the tea smiling as the warm cranberry apple liquid soothed his raw throat.
He smiled once more: suddenly the pain wasn't all that bad.
~Three: Flu~
Bacteria seemed to like Kusano, as one week later he caught the flu.
In addition to being shut in his room again, Koyama and an unwilling Shige had taken to cleaning every inch of the house to prevent future sicknesses.
Kusano growled as he threw the covers off of himself for the third time that day. He was hot, he was cold, his nose was stuffy, his head hurt, his throat was sore, he had a fever, and he wanted to scream in frustration.
Just as he had pulled his covers back on himself, there was a knock at his door.
"Come in," he said, his voice cracking.
Tegoshi stepped into the room and sat on his bed.
"How do you feel?" he asked.
"Like total and complete crap," Kusano muttered.
Tegoshi laughed.
"You shouldn't be in here," Kusano told him. "I'm still contagious."
"I got vaccinated a week ago," Tegoshi told him. "I didn't want to, because I hate needles. But now I can stay here with you!"
Kusano blinked.
"You got poked with a needle to be in here with me?" he said.
Tegoshi nodded.
"I figured you needed someone to talk to," he said, lying on the bed next to him.
"Thanks Tesshi," he said, smiling.
"You're welcome," Tegoshi replied, smiling back.
A few seconds later, Kusano threw the covers off of himself, groaning.
Tegoshi laughed.
"You'll be cold," he said.
"But if I leave them on I get hot!" Kusano exclaimed, throwing up his hands in exasperation. "So either way I'm uncomfortable."
"I can fix that," Tegoshi replied, snaking his arms around Kusano's waist, snuggling against him and resting his head against his chest.
"Better?" Tegoshi asked.
"Much," Kusano replied, smiling. "I don't feel uncomfortable anymore."
"Yay!" Tegoshi replied. "I make a pretty good blanket."
"And a better friend," Kusano replied, hugging him.
~Four: Common Cold~
Kusano pretty much determined his immune system sucked, as he caught the common cold after the flu. He felt extremely stuffy, and if he kept sneezing as strongly and frequently as he was, his lungs would give out.
Tegoshi came over the first day of his cold and played video and board games with him, and soon he caught the cold as well, much to Koyama's dismay. As a result, he was locked in the room with Kusano, and the two of them slowly got bored, as they had gone through all the games in Kusano's room twice.
"Now what?" Tegoshi asked. "Hey!"
Kusano laughed as he hit Tegoshi with a pillow. He then sneezed afterwards. Tegoshi burst out laughing.
"You sounded like a pterodactyl," he said, imitating Kusano's sneeze afterwards.
"Shush you," Kusano muttered, playfully hitting him again.
The two ended up getting into a pillow fight, a mass of feathers falling all over the room. Soon they collapsed onto Kusano's bed, tired out.
"That was fun," Tegoshi breathed out.
"Agreed," Kusano replied.
"Now I need a nap."
Kusano laughed.
"Go ahead," he said. "Though finding a pillow may prove to be difficult."
"Oh I don't think so," Tegoshi replied, resting against Kusano's chest, and Kusano chuckled. "'night Notti."
"'night Tesshi," Kusano replied watching as Tegoshi slowly fell asleep.
~Five: A Different Kind Of Sick~
Kusano's common cold and sick fits altogether and he was elated. Finally he could leave the house.
But, surprisingly he didn't feel up to it, and he stayed in his room. Now that he and Tegoshi were well, Tegoshi went home and all he could think about was the time he spent with Tegoshi and how happy he had been when he was there. Now that he wasn't gone, he felt sad.
"Hiro it's a great day outside," Shige said, coming into the room and opening the blinds. "Go out! I'll even buy you an ice cream."
"I don't feel like it," Kusano muttered, shielding his eyes from the sun.
"And why not?"
"My chest hurts."
"Not again," Shige muttered. "Keii!"
"No I don't feel sick sick," Kusano told him quickly. "I feel empty. My chest feels tight and my stomach feels heavy. And I feel miserable."
"When did this start?" Shige asked.
"After Tesshi's mom came to get him."
"How did you feel when he was here?"
"My stomach felt light and I was much happier."
Shige smiled.
"You are sick," he said.
"But I'm not sneezing or anything."
"You're different kind of sick," Koyama said from the doorway, grinning.
"Hiro you happen to be lovesick," Shige said. "Or specifically in your case 'Diagnosis Tegoitis."
Kusano smiled.
"You're right," he said.
"Fortunately for you, we have something that'll help," Koyama replied, grinning, and Tegoshi appeared from behind him.
"Hi!" he exclaimed, tackling Notti to the bed.
Kusano laughed and hugged him. Shige and Koyama smiled and left the room.
"Daisuki Notti," Tegoshi whispered, burying his head in Kusano's chest.
Kusano smiled and kissed the top of his head, deciding that love sickness was definitely the most tolerable.
"Daisuki Tesshi," he said.
The End
