~Not A Complete Failure~
Yabu sighed as he flipped through the channels on his T.V. set. There was absolutely nothing on.
"This should be a crime," he thought. "I hate these stupid T.V. broadcasting stations."
Just when he was about to turn off the television, the next channel caught his attention. He dropped the remote, eyes glued to the screen.
"Stayed turned for KAT-TUN's special press conference!"
Yabu smiled. KAT-TUN meant Akanishi-kun. And Akanishi-kun meant his undivided attention.
The commercials ended and Yabu smile widened as KAT-TUN appeared on the screen, Jin in the center.
"Akanishi-kun," a reporter began. "Is it true that you're planning to go on a six month hiatus in America?"
Yabu's smile disappeared and his heart beat began to speed up. It can't be true.
"Yes," Jin replied and Yabu cupped a hand to his mouth. "I plan on leaving to study English and for health reasons. I've been feeling really stressed lately."
"How do you think this will affect the group as a whole, Kamenashi-kun?" another reporter asked.
"Akanishi-kun's hiatus will not affect the group negatively," Kame replied. "We will continue to be as solid as ever."
The reporters continued to ask questions regarding the hiatus but Yabu cut off the television set and buried his face into his pillow. He couldn't believe it. Six months without Jin. Six months without seeing his face.
"This sucks," he groaned out.
Yabu heard the phone ring, but made no move to answer it. He really didn't feel like talking to anyone at the moment.
"Kota! It's Hikaru-kun on the phone!"
"Okay," Yabu replied, reluctantly picking up the phone. "Hello?"
"Do you see the press conference?" Hikaru asked.
"I saw enough," Yabu replied, sadly. "This bites Hika."
"Don't be so down," Hikaru replied. "Look on the bright side. He said he's leaving for health reasons, right? He'll be even dreamier when he looks fed and rested! And he'll be able to serenade you with an English love song. Bo-nus!"
Yabu laughed.
"You have a weird way of cheering people up," he said.
"But is my weird way working?"
"In a weird way . . . yes."
Hikaru laughed.
"Good," he said. "And besides, you can always IM him while he's there."
"It's not the same as looking at him."
"Well . . . have a picture of him next to you when do it."
Yabu snorted.
"What?" Hikaru said. "It's not like you don't have twenty of them under your bed."
"D-do not!"
"There's no point in lying to me," Hikaru said, laughing.
"Stop looking around in my room," Yabu replied. Seconds later he let out a long sigh.
"Don't get depressed on me again!" Hikaru exclaimed. "You're gonna make me go all emo."
Yabu laughed.
"Sorry," he said. "I just keep thinking about Akanishi-kun."
"There's a surprise."
"Honestly Hika," he said. "What if someone in America takes him before I even get the chance of confesses?!"
"Good question," Hikaru said. "You should call him and confess to him before he leaves tomorrow."
"TOMORROW?!"
"I'm guessing you didn't see that part."
"No."
"Yeah, he's leaving tomorrow. So you might wanna tell him how you feel."
"And if he says he doesn't feel the same way?"
"He's dumber than we thought," Hikaru replied.
Yabu smiled.
"Okay," he said, taking a deep breath. "I'll call him."
"Good luck! And great timing, Daiki's on the phone. I think I'll ask him to go the movies with me."
"Go you!"
"Haha. Later Kocchan."
"Bye Hachibee."
Yabu hung up the phone and sighed.
"Just do it Kota," he muttered, forcing himself to dial Jin's apartment. He began to panic as he realized that it was ringing.
"Don't pick up!" he exclaimed.
Too late.
"Moshi moshi?" Jin answered and Yabu nearly dropped the phone.
"U-umm hi Akanishi-kun," he said.
"Yabucchi!" Jin exclaimed. "What's up?"
"Umm . . . I saw the press conference."
"Oh," Jin said, his hyper attitude coming down. "I didn't mean for you to find out that way. Honestly, I meant to call you. My schedule was just hectic."
"It's okay," Yabu replied. "I'm just glad I got to talk to you before you left."
Jin smiled.
"I'm glad you did too," he said.
"Akanishi-kun," Yabu began, squeezing his pillow for support. "There's something that I want to tell you."
Jin tensed at the words, at the same time becoming excited. Was Yabu going to confess?"
"What is it, Yabu-kun?" he asked.
"I . . ." Yabu said, and then took a breath, trying again. "I really . . ."
'I can't do this,' he thought.
"I'm really going to miss you," he said finally, hitting himself with the pillow.
'Complete and utter FAILURE,' he thought.
Jin smiled to himself, thinking 'he definitely chickened out'.
"I'm really gonna miss you too, Yabuchii," he said. "But I promise we'll keep in touch."
Yabu bounced excitedly on the bed.
"Okay," he said, trying to sound calm.
"I have to go now," Jin said, feeling a little sad. "I have to finish packing. Darn procrastination."
Yabu laughed.
"Okay," he said. "Be safe on the plane."
"I will," Jin replied. "'bye."
"Bye."
Yabu hung up the phone and sighed.
"I'll tell him one of these days," he muttered.
~*~
Jin arrived at this apartment in L.A. and began to unpack only the things going in his bedroom. He smiled as he sat three pictures on his nightstand. The first was of him, Pi, and Shirota Yuu, the second of KAT-TUN (and him giving Kame bunny ears in the back of his head), and the third of him cheesing hard for the camera and squeezing the life out of Yabu, a bright smile on Yabu's face.
"Wait for me Kota," he said to the picture. "I'll be back soon. And when I am, you'll see I like you too."
The End!
