~flashback~
Hikaru nervously followed behind Midorinu as the two entered the Yax3 T.V. studio. Earlier that week he was told he would be making his first appearance on the show and quite frankly he was terrified. He didn't know any of the juniors on the show and that put him at a disadvantage socially. He wanted to believe Midorinu when she said everything would be fine, but, he had his doubts.
He continued to follow Midorinu and eventually the two stopped in the lounge of the studio.
"You stay here and mingle Hikaruchi," Midorinu said to him. "I'm going to go talk to the producer."
Hikaru nodded and smiled. But after Midorinu left he bit his lip. There were five other kids in the room and four of them were playing a video game. The first was extremely tall, the second looked older than him by three years, the third looked crazy, the fourth looked scary, and the fifth looked pretty occupied with his manga. Hikaru didn't want to disturb him.
Mingle. Yeah Right.
The fifth kid, Yabu Kota, glanced up from his manga at Hikaru and then back down. Seconds later, his eyes slowly moved back up to stare at the boy who was clearly afraid he would be eaten alive in his surroundings. Yabu smiled.
'He must be new.' Yabu thought.
Yabu put down his manga and motioned for Hikaru to sit on the couch. Hikaru blinked and pointed to himself, as though not certain it was him being addressed. Yabu laughed and nodded.
Hikaru slowly made his way over to the couch and sat next Yabu, careful not the be too close to him.
"Hi!" Yabu said, smiling.
"Hi," Hikaru replied, softly.
Yabu sighed inwardly. This kid would be a tough nut to crack.
"I'm Yabu Kota," He said. "Most people call me Yabu-kun. What's your name?"
"Yaotome Hikaru," Hikaru replied.
"Nice to meet you."
"Likewise."
Yabu racked his brain for a conversation starter, as clearly Hikaru wasn't going to talk.
"So," he began. "What kind of music do you like to listen to?"
"I like Justin Timberlake," Hikaru said, shyly and Yabu grinned.
"Me too," Yabu replied and he exclaimed 'score!' in his head as Hikaru perked up.
"What's your favorite song?" he asked.
"'Like I Love You'," Yabu replied. "That was an awesome music video. The choreography was so cool."
"I learned the entire routine!"
"Really?! You should tell me sometime."
The two continued to talk, and as Hikaru loosened up Yabu eased the conversation into other topics. Slowly the two became more animated, and the other members of Ya-Ya-Yah finally realized there was someone else in the room.
"Hey Yabu-kun who's your friend?" the older kid asked.
"Guys this is Yaotome Hikaru," Yabu replied. "Hika-chan, this is Yamashita Shoon, Ayukawa Taiyou, Akama Naoya, and Hoshino Masaki."
"Nice to meet you," Hikaru said, smiling softly and Yabu felt him clamming up again.
"Guess how old Taiyou is," he said, quickly and Taiyou laughed.
"He won't get it Yabu-kun," he said.
"Let him try anyway," Yabu said, smiling and nudging Hikaru. "Go on Hika-chan."
"Umm . . . sixteen?" Hikaru guessed, looking at the taller boy and the others laughed.
"I'm only twelve!" Taiyou replied, smiling and Hikaru blinked.
"You're so tall for twelve," he said. "I never would've guessed!"
"I get that a lot," Taiyou replied.
Yabu smiled as the other Yax3 members began to interact with Hikaru. He could tell the younger boy was beginning to open up.
A few minutes later Midorinu came into the room.
"Ah Hikarucchi I see you made friends with the others!" she exclaimed.
Hikaru nodded. It turned out that the others weren't as scary and distant as he believe them to be.
"Midorinu-san, is Hika-chan going to be on the show now?" Yabu asked.
Midorinu nodded.
Yabu cheered and hugged Hikaru. He blushed.
"Come on Hika-chan," Yabu said. "I'll show you around!"
"Wait for us Yabu-kun!" Shoon yelled as Yabu took Hikaru's hand and fled from the room.
Midori laughed.
~End Flashback~
"Really?" Yabu said, blushing slightly as Hikaru finished the story. "You've liked me since then?"
Hikaru nodded from his position in Yabu's lap.
"I was very happy you talk to me," he said. "You made me feel welcomed Kota. That meant a lot to me. I'm glad I met you."
Yabu chuckled as Hikaru blushed.
"I'm glad you met you too, Hika-chan" he said, kissing him.
