The streets were congested with shoppers, all with arms loaded with bags. Every window had lights. Every store advertised a sale for those last minute shoppers. Sam might have felt the magic of the season if it didn't make it so hard to walk in an already crowded part of town. Plus, she was getting hungry. Any place she picked was going to be crowded so she just went with something close.
She wasn't going to wait for a table (nothing was sadder than sitting in a crowded restaurant alone) then she saw Clarke. He was that sad guy eating alone though he didn't look lonely. He looked engrossed in whatever he was reading and it was almost enough to make her leave him alone but she couldn't.
Telling the hostess, that she could see her party, she walked right over to Clarke and sat down. "I can't believe you ordered without me."
