Fic #4: Forced Vacation
Request: Yami no Matsuei, Tsuzuki/Hisoka, prompt: Shokan division on vacation
Requested by: norinoricat
Length: 400
Rating: PG
Notes: As stated by the prompter herself, this is actually already done in the manga. So I took a somewhat, er, different spin on it.

“We need a vacation,” Tsuzuki said, folding one of the papers from their latest case report into a paper airplane that he sent winging across the room.

Hisoka glanced over at him in some exasperation. “Why? You never do any work anyway.”

Tsuzuki sulked. “That is not true,” he said. “I work hard.”

Hisoka finished signing his name to the report, retrieved the airplaned paper, and smoothed the creases out of it. He knew that Tsuzuki was right, to a certain degree. Sure, Tsuzuki worked hard. When he remembered that he was working. Which was about ten percent of the time.

“Anyway, I don’t mean it for me,” Tsuzuki added. “I mean it for the others. They’re all so tense and grumpy lately.”

Hisoka thought about it and decided that Tsuzuki had something of a point. Konoe, well, he was always grumpy. Terazuma was always . . . Terazuma. And if Tatsumi had been a little more skin-flinty than usual, that probably had a lot to do with the fact that months of prolonged work had a tendency to increase the amount of funds that went to damage repair. The fact that the damage was usually done by his fellow employees rather than whoever or whatever they were fighting didn’t help matters.

“So, we need a vacation,” Hisoka agreed. “If you can get anyone to relax that long, maybe they would even enjoy it. How do you plan to go about getting us one?” he added, somewhat amused. Thinking about that should keep Tsuzuki occupied for the rest of the day -

“I have an idea!” Tsuzuki’s eyes lit up and he scampered out of the room.

Hisoka noticed with some trepidation that he was heading towards Watari’s lab. “Oh, shit,” he said underneath his breath.

About twenty minutes later, the entire building was filled with noxious green smoke and the repeated sounds of Watari apologizing as Tatsumi lectured him on unsafe science experiments. It was duly agreed that it would take at least a week to clean up the entire building and air it out so people inside could breathe again, and the forlorn Gushoshin were left behind and set to this task as the smoke didn’t seem to bother him.

Watari and Tsuzuki were both grinning as they left the building.

Hisoka shook his head and muttered to himself, “I can’t wait to see how he plans to make them relax.”
