I've had my eye on this pattern for a while. Probably because I'm a slave for cabled things. It's easy...just a K2P2 rib around the cuff and down the instep, with a 2x2 cable down both the inside and the outside of the leg. I've done a whopping 1 cable repetition, so the picture doesn't really do the pattern justice.
Pattern: Cabled Clock Socks from Getting Started Knitting Socks
Yarn:
the dark blue Koigu I acquired last yearNeeldes: US 2, 40" circs
Alterations: Toe-up, magic loop, two socks at a time. Amazingly, I'm using both the type of yarn and the size needles the pattern calls for. I'm a little concerned I'm knitting it too loosely but I'll see how much it bothers me and start over if needed.
Pattern: Multi-Media Cozy from Knitting With Balls
Yarn:
the black, white, and grey Tess Designer sock yarn I got at Stitches West 2007Needles: US 2, 40" circs
Alterations: Knit from the bottom up, and the top continued in the K2P2 instead of changing to K1P1.
Funny Story: So here's a funny story. None of the pictures of the finished product in the pattern book show that the thing is really just a sock for your ipod-- oh, excuse me, "multi-media player". Before I realized that the top of the thing is just open, I got the idea to, well...see for yourself:
So it's kind of like convertible mittens. And I put a little eyelet hole in the top for my headphones. I am also amused that despite all the other numerous alterations, the yarn I used is very similar in color to what the designer used.
